O

I just finished having JW Home installing a new attic ladder. They quoted me 7 hours for two guys. Positive side they had someone come out that day to install the new attic ladder. The guys did a good job! Negative. They finished in 5 hours (time sheet stated) but prepaid for 7 hours. They refuse to refund me 2 hours. Just beware of their billing practices. I would not prepay again for any work from this company. If they refuse move to another company!

Somehow this company has an A on Angie's List despite having only 3 stars on Yelp. I would prefer to give them zero stars but that is not an option.
A long review but this company is 0-3 with us and worth the read before you hire them. We had JW come out after we bought our house to fix a roof leak that ruined the drywall in one of our guest rooms. 8 months later, we noticed that the leak had reappeared and the drywall once again had water stains and chipping in the exact same place. Since the work was under a year warranty, we called them back out to repair the leak again. They still charged us $1000 despite their warranty, which was half the amount of the project (they say they covered the other half.) The office claimed the roof was leaking in a new spot even though the patch of ruined drywall was the exact same drywall that was already fixed.
Little does the office know, the tech that came out the second time to repair their handiwork told us that he saw where the leak wasn't fixed correctly the first time. He even asked us the name of the crew that came out the first time.
Silly us, we received a gift card from JW Home Improvement and called them back to install two very high up light fixtures in our home. We were told 4 man hours, but the estimator said it couldn't possibly take more than 2-3 hours to install 2 light fixtures. Our estimator, Jesse, suggested we find another project to have completed with the remaining time of the 4 hour minimum. We bought a ceiling fan for our master bedroom.
After only two hours of work (2 men instead of 1) I got a call from the office. The time was up and they would need another 4 hours to complete the light fixture and install the ceiling fan. At this point 1 of 2 light fixtures was installed. The second old light fixture in the stairwell had been taken down, but the new light wasn't up yet. Brian from the office told my wife it would be $848 to complete the job. She told them we would not pay them another penny and to leave the job incomplete. She is currently 32 weeks pregnant (due in November) and the office was fine with leaving us no light whatsoever in our stairwell.
Brian actually told me on the phone they'd "put the old light fixture back up." Talk about petty and a serious lack of customer service skills. It would take just as much time to reinstall the old fixture as it would to install the new fixture.
After an angry phone call from me and a visit from their "quality control" manager, they waived the second tech and did not charge us extra to finish the second light fixture. They did not install the ceiling fan.
Ironically, their tag line is "no project too small!" But there is a 4 hour minimum at $106/hour..
