new cremator as I indicated in our conversation referenced and as required by state law, every person in our facility must be logged with identification. When a new cremator is installed a new license must be obtained in order to operate. When a function is added to an establishment license, a new log register is formed for that function as required. I use an identification process with a metal coin object with my establishment name and case number along with all other required paperwork (paperwork is displayed outside cremator during cremation to state what cremation is in progress). This coin is designed to survive cremation and stays with the remains through the whole process even when the cremated remains are returned to the family or responsible party. This item is not a toe tag, it is a form of identification for cremated remains as other forms of identification such as toe tags or wrist bands for example are burned during cremation with the body. Identification can never removed per state law and my company policy.
The reason I mentioned the coin number being number 1 (one) was simply to inform the family that this was the first entry into the new log book. Again, I was not intending to sound disrespectful just informative. Please accept my sincere apology for any misunderstanding and again my deepest condolences for your families loss.
