Part of me wants to say no way. The "wound" was a hot spot that we had no way to prevent to begin with. I also know that the hot spot developed over the last hours her dog was in our care. I personally put a leash on the dog at 7am on 1/5/2016, hours before the
dog was picked up. There was no hot spot at that time. (A hot spot can be caused by a number of things including but not limited to allergies, the most common cause. And pure bred dogs like ***'s are most susceptible to allergies.)
Then comes the fact that *** never contacted us first to attempt to resolve the issue. *** and her husband have use our services times in 1/years and there has never been a problem before
I will make a one time offer, I will offer a refund of the boarding charge but no more. I know I will never have to worry about her using our services in the future

I do my book keeping on Sundays when I am receptionist all day.  I wrote the check on Sunday 1/24/16 and dropped it in the mail today.  I do not put outgoing mail in my curbside mailbox so I waited until I did my running around today and dropped it off at the Mailzone at the corner of [redacted] where we have a mail box.

At this time we are not willing to make any settlement offer.  There are just too many problems with all their accusations.  Without going into too many details most of their accusations are close to what the veterinarians put in their reports, but at the same time very...

different.  There is a huge step from the [redacted] saying the vet said it was the only way an injury could happen, to it could have happened  that way.
  For starters, literally the day before the [redacted] dropped off their dogs, we had our annual kennel inspection for our commercial boarding kennel license, we passed with flying colors.  [redacted] did not get sick from any unsanitary conditions that they have claimed.  One thing [redacted] did do that may have contributed to her illness, is because of lack of social skills, she refused to come in out of the rain to her nice warm inside kennel with the radiant floor heat.  The only way to get her out of the rain was to put a leash on her and walk her around to the inside of the building and lock her in. We were trying to find a balance between locking 2 large dogs in their inside kennel to stay dry, or give them access to their outside kennel so they had more room to stretch their legs.
   Question to any dog owner, if you saw your dog get his leash jerked so hard a bone chip could have been broken off (described as a broken elbow), and cause a partial tear of a ligament, would you not be reporting it directly to the management of the kennel, even if no injury was suffered?  The [redacted] called back 45 minutes after they got home to ask if anyone saw their dog limping while it was being boarded.  In other words, they never saw the leash incident as they described.  As for the vet’s comment, he was saying what kind of force it would take to cause the injury, not that the supposed leash incident is only way it could happen.  My dog had the same injury from a collision with other dog while chasing a rabbit.  It is also important to note that the [redacted] took Diesel to second vet who wanted to run additional test to confirm suspicions, and the [redacted] refused test, so nothing was actually confirmed. 
  As for the toe nail trim, we had a computer failure while the [redacted] dogs were in our care.  We did call them to ask if the dogs were supposed to be bathed or have nails trimmed but they said no.  Our groomer is the only person who does those things, and the only way he knows what dogs are supposed to be done is if we enter something into the computer.  Even if we entered the nail trim with no price there would still be something to see on the invoice.  (When they initially called about [redacted] limp, [redacted] was told to check his toenails to see if a broken toenail was causing that limp).  Both dogs did spend 12 days on a concrete floor that can naturally grind toenails.
  Finally addressing the weight loss, we ALWAYS recommend that owners bring their dog’s bedding, food, and toys.  Their own bedding, or something that smells like home help keep the dogs relaxed.  Their own food is important because if you change their diet suddenly, they can get an upset stomach and are prone to not eat as well for a while.  The [redacted] chose not to bring any bedding or their own food.  Combine the nervous energy being spent, and decreased appetite and bingo you will have weight loss.    [redacted] and Diesel were eating well enough to keep us from getting worried.
