K-9 Obediance Reviews (1)

Review: My decision to have my male German Shepherd trained with this company was miss lead. My Goal was to have my male trained and co-own the dog with a PD once all training was complete, continue to use him as the Stud for my kennel. [redacted] the owner, Informed me this was a realistic goal and also gave me then name of a PD that was interested. Then called me continuously to place the deposit on many occasions while I was making my decision, even when he was told I was unavailable. The calls were so persistent that I thought he may have needed the money and asked him "If it was an issue that he needed money for Christmas" on the 23rd of December. Well I did in fact finally give him the deposit of $400 on December 27th 2013. After the deposit was place I really started looking for a PD that would like to Co-own my GSD with me, yet no one was interested in a co-ownership and only would take the dog if all of my rights were relinquished. I was also informed by an active k-9 handler that, by co-owning a dog with a PD, would put me at a great risk for a liability issue, if the dog ever bit someone! Once I spoke with [redacted] about these issues he agreed with all of the findings I had, and claimed I had never informed him of the co-ownership dream, yet I had! I was also informed that the age he wanted [redacted], my male, to begin training, 7 mos was to young and he should have his hips and elbows x-rayed, 1 yr, to insure work ability. This dog, would be worth around $15-20,000 I would never have offered to just give this up as a donation, yes a co-ownership where the dog would work with an officer but not give up all of my rights! I did ask nicely for my deposit back within a reasonable amount of time on January 4th, and have documentation of this. Yet I received no written response only attempts to call. No where in his contract does it state it is non refundable. After investigation I also found he has been convicted of theft and Drug charges recently. This is also a serious concern for training placement.Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit refunded as he was miss leading, was given plenty of notice 3 monbths, decision was made with in 9 days of deposit given, along with justified reason as to my dog not attending along with him influencing my decision. As even the PD he informed me would be interested in co-ownership of my dog would want me to relinquish all rights.

#[redacted] complaint number. In his contract there is no where that states it is a non refundable deposit and that if the dog is inappropriate for training my deposit will be refunded. Well he is inappropriate due to age, The dog would have only been 7 months in March when the trainer wanted him to begin, and should be a year with hips and elbows screened for dysplasia before any rigorous training should begin. Starting this young could also effect the development of the joints per my veterinarian.
