K & D Electric Co. LLC Reviews (1)

On September 10, 2014 a proposal for work from K&D Electric LLC. was established to include the rough-in and installation of a customer provided ceiling fan to a screened deck, demolition of an old exterior light above the backdoor, installation of a new customer provided light fixture at the...

above mentioned door, and finally install a new GFCI receptacle on the back of the house. It was agreed in the proposal that the work would be completed in two sessions with one third of the bill to be paid after the final inspection. A permit was filed and issued on September 15, 2014 with Prince William County, and the rough-in was completed the following day, September 16, 2014, The final date was to-be-determined contingent the customer scheduled when it was ready,Approximately one month after the initial rough-in, the customer ordered an additional job involving a bath fan which was completed on October 15, 2014 in between waiting for the final from the previous work. A check was collected for the work however that evening the customer had a complaint about the work, so it was not cashed and a follow up visit was set the very Inext day on October 16, 2014. Nearly 30 minutes prior to the follow up, the customer cancelled and did not attempt to reschedule. Another company was hired to inspect the bath fan, and K&D Electric LLC, has yet to cash the check for the previous work completed involving the bath fan.Since the bath fan incident, the customer failed to make contact with K&D Electric LLC. to schedule a final date. $385 is still owed to the company. The electrical permit for the job had a listed expiration date of March 15, 2014. It wasn’t until 20 months after the initial start date that the customer called to complete the work on May 09, 2016. Two complaints presented involving the work were the placement of the fan box and the wiring that was stabled to the beam. The box was said to be 1 inch off center however it was measured Centered to the room as a whole, not the two rafters it sits between. Secondly, the wire was stabled to the beam per the National Electric Code thus the gap between the two was not unreasonable as initially implied. The electrician who completed the work was not an apprentice having logged 20 plus years in the trade; six of which have been with K&D Electric LLC.  Despite previous complications and a near two-year gap, K&D Electric LLC continued to work with the customer and scheduled a final date for May 09, 2016 in which the owner and master electrician was to report to complete the job. On site, the customer continued to criticize the work already completed, concerning superficial issues not in violation of the NEC. Having consistently tried to work with the customer in previous matters for a period dating back to 2014, it was ultimately decided that K&D Electric LLC was not going to be able to complete the job without further incident in the eyes of the customer. $385 is left outstanding not to include the $135 from the bath fan.Sincerely,Ken F[redacted] President
