Review: When having windows replaced on the house, there was water damage/rot surrounding the windows.

Job was finished without addressing the rotten wood.

Fall of 2008 my house siding was replaced by K-designers, and the wood and insulation on the back of the house was replaced due to water damage. Aug. XX XXXX windows were replaced on same wall. The same wood rot happened again. The upper window was the cause allowing water into the framework of the house. After a few phone calls between the installer ([redacted]) and the work director ([redacted]), and myself and [redacted].By early evening I was told that the final decission was up to the [redacted]. With only an hour of daylight left, The installer rushed to complete the job before dark. There were also a few warranty items that needed to be addressed.

The rotten wood was then covered up and the siding reinstalled and the windows sealed.

I was told the since the wrap was opened up the moisture could escape, and now it was only damp and not wet.

I was reassured by [redacted] that "the black mold isn't as bad as people are led to believe".

I filed a claim with my insurance company, and the claims adjuster came out and looked at the pictures that were taken and he said that it should be up to the installer to catch and remedy the water problem.

I spent over $17,000 on the new siding and now $4,975,Account number XXXXXXXXXX with Ener Bank USA, and the back of my house is still rotten.

Desired Settlement: Due to the fact of my one child has Asthma, and my other son and I both have allergies. With the rotten wood in the walls affecting our health, I am requesting the rotten moldy building materials inside the walls replaced.

Excellent job on our siding. Looks great and a great job done on the installation. Installer was very efficient, fast and a hard worker. Very happy with end product.

I met with [redacted] from K Designers in November to talk about windows for our home that we purchased in July. Being an older home, the windows were single pane and an energy nightmare. We decided to purchase windows for the south facing wall and the front of the home. The installation was flawless and the cleanup was great. They left my home cleaner than when they came. We have had the new beautiful windows for about 3 weeks and have already noticed a difference in how often our heat kicks on. Very professional, helpful, and friendly. They provide a personal experience and are always available to answer questions!

employee`s were very good at what they do. am pleased with the window installation and patio door. had a couple of minor issues but the office staff corrected all the issues in a very quick manner. price of the job of 10 windows and patio door was within reason for a good product. for now I am satisfied. am a retired construction millwright which I did for 35yrs,so I know what to look for.

We are very impressed with K-Designers. The regional vice president came to my home personally and talked to me. Everything that he said has come true so far the crews showed up put the sign in the yard and went to work. The men work very hard are polite and are very professional. When the first crew were finished they had cleaned up and we together walked around the property to make sure everything was to my satisfaction.

Review: Windows installed improperly. Impossible customer service and many promises unanswered.

In 2010 we had windows installed through out our entire house when we were expecting our first child. We thought it was the best way to solve our climate problem in home and make it comfortable for a newborn in January. It was tough to finance the huge expense, but you do what you have to. Enter the longest most frustrating three years of our lives. From problems at installation (the contractor cut himself and bled all over my bed and carpet, then spilled mineral spirits on the carpet, nightstand and alarm clock and DIDN'T TELL US). The contractor had his daughter come out with a carpet shampooer to try to "fix" our carpet and that was that. We had to eat the cost of our ruined products. Our first summer with the windows five of the windows leaked under the sill, causing water damage. After SEVERAL calls someone came out to caulk the windows and we were told they were fixed. We then had a storm and a piece of the flashing blew off. Again, it took several calls to customers service to have someone come out and put it back on. I was then told it didn't even come from my window and it wasn't a necessary piece (odd, wonder where it came from and why it was laying right under the window and there was water dripping in the window). I showed the water and damage to the guy and he had the nerve to tell me I just wasn't closing the window properly. After an impossible three years of this back and forth, them saying they would show and they don't, the problems never being resolved and us hemorrhaging more money to repair damage, we come to this summer 2013. The window that was most recently "repaired" by them was leaking again. We placed a call to have it fixed and we were told someone would contact us. We didn't hold our breath as we have been through this before. September 12th began a crazy rain storm in Colorado. My house flooded. Our living room window might as well not have even been there. Rain poured in from the top and bottom of the window. Our walls were ruined, our carpet, padding and subfloor soaked! When our FEMA agent came out to assess our damage it was discovered that the flashing was put on backwards and the water was pooling at the top and leaking straight into the wall. I realize this storm was incredibly strong and we would have flooded in parts regardless but to find out that part of it was related to human error by someone who specialized in this was a tough blow. I have sense called K Designers here in Lakewood CO again. Took persistence to get a hold of someone, complaint was sent out, I was told I would be contacted in 24 hours and I have not heard from anyone. We have now been through two afternoon thunderstorms and my house is completely open to the elements. The drywall has rotted away and we have to use duct tape to try and keep water out. There is water damage in the frame from the last three years of leaks. I am frustrated to tears to be dealing with this AGAIN on top of all the other things we are dealing with in this flood. It really does pay to do your research, in depth, before going with a company for such big projects and expenses. The customer service is terrible, the product and/or labor is faulty and we still pay $200 a month for this three years later. Buyer beware!!Desired Settlement: I would like my windows fixed with a guarantee that they will work the way a window is supposed too!! I would love reimbursement for our losses but I doubt that would ever happen.

On September 25, we went to the customers home to address their concerns. The leak has been fixed, and the homeowners father is repairing the sheetrock. Our Production Manager will be going back to the home on Monday or Tuesday next week to finish the trimout on the inside. We will keep the Revdex.com informed as soon as customer is satified.

Thank you.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

My window was finally properly framed on the outside. The siding was fixed where the installer mutilated a seam putting the window in. I was told that the install was done poorly by the contractor that put them in. I realize a siding should not be above a window but that is how most homes in my neighborhood are but they dont have the leaking issues we have. I am now waiting on the drywall and interior window trim work to be completed. We have sense found moisture in another wall where a window was leaking, they framed that window as well so I am hopeful. I will report back once the rest of the work is COMPLETE.

Final Business Response

Our service people are going to customers home tomorrow (October 10) after 11:30 a.m. per customers request. We will be fixing the drywall and window trim.

We will notify you when job is done, and customer is satisfied.

Thank you.

Review: Debris was not cleaned up there are boards, screws, pieces of siding and other debris laying in the yard and siding by steps is not tight or caulked

was told the contractors would clean up there mess and they didn't. the caulking wasn't done right because it was cold and by the front step I told them the siding was loose and the caulking didn't hold. I called the housing inspector to ask if it had cleared and it did and I told him of the problem and he said he was sure they would come out when it warmd up. I called and left a message and never heard back. my son also noticed area's that were done very sloppy and you could see dark caulking just hangingDesired Settlement: I want them to clean up there mess in my yard and secure the siding by the step and recheck the caulking becuse it was cold and the caulking didn't hold

Dear Revdex.com:

After speaking with our Branch Manager in Minneapolis, he said the office did not receive a call requesting anything from Ms. [redacted]. Our Branch Manager contacted Ms. [redacted] today, and made arrangements to go the home to take care of any clean-up needed within the next few days.

We will notify the the Revdex.com, when this was completed, and to her satisfaction.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Yes they called and I talked to [redacted] and he said he did't recieve the call and I told him I left a message on he machine stating for either [redacted] or [redacted] who was the salesman. This is the second time I have had the same issue with not getting the phone call but I did leave it on the answering machine which was on the paperwork I was given. They were going to have someone come out this week and check into the issues but we got snow so need to wait for that to go aay again. I have cleaned up allot of the debeas already but there are als issues with areas the siding wasn't caulked properly do to the caulk being cold and not sealing right. There is also the issue of them cutting the wires to the house an not saying anything for the cable and internet and I was charged $50 for a service call as well as no internet for 3 days and being charged for late fees because I couldn't get on the internet to pay my bills. Once they come out and go over the areas includin under the front window where it meets is stained with something yellow.

Business' Final Response

Our crew went to Ms. [redacted] home on Tuesday, April 16th, and met with her. There is still snow on the ground, so customer is aware that we will have to come back when the snow melts to finish up.

Thank you.

Review: We were told by the salesman that our siding has a lifetime guarantee as long as we live in our house and gave an example that was not even covered

In 2004 a sales rep from K-Designers ([redacted], I think that was his name)came to our door to sell us siding. He gave the presentation and told us during his sales pitch that the siding would be covered for life as long as we lived in the house and for fifty years after we moved. He gave a specific example of a person that had gotten their siding replaced because their BBQ grill was too close to the house and had melted the siding. We asked many questions about the coverage. He told us repeatedly that it would be covered for life if "anything" happened to it. We were impressed that they were such a good company and would stand by their product no matter what.(according to what this salesman had told us) We invested over $9000 to have them side the house with the idea that we could get any problems fixed if any ever arose. Here we are eight years later with cosmetic damage on our siding from something running into the siding and cracking it and thinking, "it's okay, we are covered, that is what we were told." When I called the company they told me that the problems I had were not covered in the warranty and that I would not only have to pay for replacement pieces, but would also have to pay to have a serviceman come to replace the cracked pieces!!!! Michelle with customer service then read the warranty to me because I was very upset that nothing would be covered on my almost $10,000 investment and that I would have more out of pocket expense to get it fixed. In the warranty it said specifically that damage from a BBQ grill was not covered and that cracks were not covered either unless it was from a manufacturing defect. I understand that they will honor their warranty, but I am more upset about being lied to directly to my face in my home about the product being sold to me. I realize I could have searched for the warranty and looked at it to see if our particular problem was covered, but because of all that the sales representative told us, we automatically assumed it would be covered. What angers me the most is that we were lied to in order to get the sale. We were young and naive to think that the representative for this company would be completely honest. Everyone is after your money in one way or another. This company should have sent someone that was better trained and should have been more specific about what is really covered. Having him tell us repeatedly that "everything is covered" was not right. I feel like we were targeted because we were young and inexperienced with looking over contracts and as long as he told us what we wanted to hear, even though it was a lie, than he would get the sale. Our home is small. Siding should never have cost what it did, but we were under the impression that the lifetime guarantee that covered "any problems" as we were told was the reason the price was so outrageous!!! Will we work with K-Designers again? No way! Will we ever refer them to anyone we know? Absolutely not, we will defer them from shopping with a company like K-Designers!Desired Settlement: We want K designers to stand by what their salesman said and honor the aforementioned warranty. We have some siding and trim pieces that need to be replaced. As a small business owner I know how important customer satisfaction is throughout the lifetime of the products and services sold. I also understand how imperative it is to have satisfied customers so they will continue to refer other future customers. So K designers needs to stand by their sales reps and keep satisfied customers. lets schedule the appointment for July 26, 2012 at 9 AM!

This is our response in answering your complaint to the Revdex.com. First, let me remind you that the warranty was sent to you immediately after the job completion (8)eight years ago. The warranty clearly states that damage caused by foreign objects is not covered under the warranty.

Even though we are not responsible for the damage caused by the falling object that caused the damage, this time only, we will repair the damage for you. In the future for a similar need for service you would need to make a claim on your homeowners insurance policy.

Our Salt Lake City branch will be calling you to arrange a time to make the repairs for you.

Review: I [redacted] did have a company called K- designers come to put gutters and faciea also soffits. Then much later a door was ordered from this company to replace my old front door. I have never been treated so bad by this company this company advertises that they are a Home Remodeling Leader. The work they did was very unsatisfactory to me was not pleased with the customer service also. I was treated in a very rude manner. The door that was installed has a big gap when the door is closed so all the wind and insects that are outside come through this big gap I did call to complain about it and I never received a call back from this company also when the door was ordered it took so long for them to install it I waited about two months before they got back to me. The gutters also defective they were not installed to where the water would drain from them and so water sits in the middle of them and rots I was not satisfied with nothing they did for me this company needs to have better management also to brush up on the way they relate to their customers. They do not care about the way the work in completed or the way they communicate back to the customer never again will I use this company to do any remodeling for me. I will hire professionals from now on that do care about there work and the it is completed and that the customer is and will be satisfied with the product that the company is selling. Next time I will also be checking with the Revdex.com next time I hire anyone to do work for me. And I will not be hiring this company again!!!

I would appreciate if this company would not ever rip people off anymore. I feel I was jipped out of my money for the unprofessional job that was done to my home. I shouldn't have to hire someone else to fix that was supposed to be professionally done the right way in the beginning. Not with a big gap in the door and the gutters not draining properly. I'm so disappointed in all areas of this business.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I purchased a double-slider window from K-Designers which they installed in February 2013. After opening the window earlier this year (2014) I could not get it to lock. Since the window is under warranty I called K-Designers in the Denver office April 2nd and [redacted] said she would give the message to [redacted] and [redacted]. Since I never heard back, I called again and was told I would need to call back early to talk to [redacted] about the problem. I first talked to him about it May 5, 2014. I told him I was concerned about it because of security with it not locking. He said he understood, thought it would be an easy fix, and indicated he would soon be contacting me to get it fixed. It has been 6 months since my first call and I've made several since but all I get is promises. He did call once in mid July when I wasn't home and left a message which I returned as soon as I got it, but evidently no one was in the area by that time. I paid $1,377 for the window plus another $100 up front and I expected they would stand behind their warranty, but I can't get anyone to come fix the locks on this window.Desired Settlement: I either want this window fixed soon so it will lock and I won't have to be worried about security problems, or else I want my purchase price refunded so I can go buy a window that will suit my purposes.

Review: They instaled my doors on 3/30/12. they sent someone out & he said the person that was suppost to put the doors on was busy so the one that put the doors on didnt know what he was doing. A part was left off & they sent another person out & he promised he would be back with the part the next day. thats been over a month ago & I still dont have the part. Another lady called & said they were getting the part & there would be a charge. I told her I paid for the doors & that I wasnt going to pay for a part they left off.

She said she was going to look into this & hung up. thats the last Ive heard from them.

I have called the numbers they give me & I cant get an answer from any of them. Its been over 2 years. All I get is promises & nothing is done.Desired Settlement: The promised part at no charge.

Consumer states that the company finally came out on Tuesday and fixed the door. Complaint is resolved.

Terrible communication after the sale. Horrid. Simonton windows are great but this company stinks.

I had an awesome experience with K-Designers. They were great to work with for pricing, measuring, installing, and everything else. I would recommend them for anyone wanting an update!

Awesome products and 1st class installs from these guys - you won't be sorry., but it's good to check them out. Since they're a remodeler (installer), they only use the best products. Any successful company in business 35+ years in this industry is doing something right!

Review: Company violates the do not call list, and claims to be a charity, when really selling products.

Company representative called my home, attempting to sell me siding and windows, when I asked why they were willfully violating the do not call list, the woman claimed they were a charity and not subject to it. Review: I had my front door installed in Sept 2012, and as date Jan 2013 I can not keep my door shut, I can not lock it and it will not latch.

Door does not latch and can't secure my home as of Jan 2013. On Sept 20, 2012 they installed a new door and windows, for $6327.72 with payment of 130.00. Well this is the date they got paid, they installed the items in Oct but since I won't pay them until the items were fixed had installation problems. I had problems from day one with them, They came out and fixed, Which I thought were fixed, and now my door will not lock or even latch closed. I called them on Jan 25 and they told me 24 to 72 hours to get back to me. I called again on the 28th and was told within the next 24 or 48 hours I should hear back, today the 30 of Jan I called and couldn't get anyone to answer except message machine. I need my front door repaired today. I got up this morning and my door was standing open, if it cold and I have birds worth thousands of dollars, that I can't lose or anyone could walk in. The door didn't work right from day one but after they came out and FIXED? it that is should be okay. This is the second time I had issues with the door. But since I held payment they were quicker to get here to so call fix it. They blamed the problem on the structure of my home. Also they installed my light switch on the outside of the wall and now it is hanging loose from the wall. it was recess before so you couldn't hit it now it get bumped all the time.

I just don't want to wait months to get this fixed. I can't secure my home. The first time I had a problem with them, they said they didn't have anyone coming my way soon to get it fixed. Desired Settlement: I don't want to play phone tag for months before someone gets back to me to get this problem fix ASAP. I want my door fixed right so it will close and lock, and my light switched fixed right. They said the light switch had no place for it. If they can't get it fixed today by their workers then they need to hire someone who can, to do it in the next day or ASAP. Would like it today.

Business' Initial Response

On February 4, our installer from our Omaha Branch fixed Ms. [redacted]'s problem. Our production spoke with Ms. [redacted], and she indicated that she was very happy and satisfied with work done.

Thank you.

We had a really good experience with this company. Our new bathroom is amazing and the windows are awesome. With the added insulation and new siding our house stays so much warmer. Thanks so much.

Review: In 2007, K-Designers [redacted], came to our home, [redacted] and [redacted], 3[redacted], to present and estimate custom-made windows to us. The saleslady presented [redacted] for the first credited amount of $4,500, but this did not cover the estimated price of $5,000, so when the saleslady presented [redacted]'s approval of my application for $5,000, I accepted. Within 3 days I was going to cancel because 5 windows at $1,000 each was too high after discussing it with my wife. Then the saleslady dropped by again with an extra added incentive to increase the windows to 8, add a glass storm door, and soffits all the way around the house all for $5,000 and I signed in agreement.Within 3 months after almost completing the project, (because they only installed 7 windows and the 8th window was re-ordered but never arrived or installed, and the gutters and downspouts were not replaced after being removed to install the new soffits), [redacted] billed us for $4,500, which increased over the next 12 months to $10,000 and [redacted] followed in the same manner. The harassing phone calls did not stop, our credit was ruined because they had slandered us, and we could not pay for the windows, even if they had been all installed, because we were not approved for a home equity line of credit due to our slandered credit. The project was never completed, [redacted] never produced a contract or receipt, and K-Designers benefitted from being paid for an incomplete project by both creditors, the declined creditor [redacted] and the approved creditor [redacted]. K-Designer misrepresented to them that there were two projects, which in reality there was one contract with [redacted] for $5,000 no pmt/int 365 days after completion of the project to our satisfaction--8 windows, 1 glass storm door, and soffits all the way around our home, which was never completed.Desired Settlement: We would like our credit restored by removing all the slanderous reporting made by [redacted] or [redacted], and K-Designers to install the 8th window, replace our gutters and downspouts which are nearly hanging off of our house and ruining our cedar siding and foundation, and to reimburse us for our long-suffering and patience with their harassment of us with phone calls, threats, collections and lawsuits over the past 7 years.

Response:

According to our records this is the first contact we have received from the [redacted] regarding any concerns. Our branch Manager, [redacted] left a voice message on September 9 and made contact with the [redacted]'s today, September 15 and scheduled an inspection for Wednesday, September 17 at 4:00 pm.

We will follow up with the Revdex.com after the appointment with the outcome and the best way to resolve the customer concerns.

Thank you.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

The response is inaccurate because we have contacted KDesigners since they created this problem over 7 years ago.

KDesigners is taking responsibility for the incomplete project now after this complaint with the Revdex.com-California.

KDesigners' representative [redacted] said he does not have anything to do with the financing of it.

KDesigners' original manager claimed that there were two projects, which we would not have qualified for.

If we accept KDesigners' offer to complete the project and remediate the mold, we still are not happy,

because KDesigners mishandled the financing of the original contract by accepting $4,500 payment from [redacted]

now d/b/a [redacted], a creditor that we declined before [redacted] accepted the full amount offered from [redacted].

KDesigners' representative [redacted] said that they will not give the money back so that we can renew the contract with them.

[redacted] now d/b/a [redacted] and [redacted] paid them $10,000 before completion of the project worth only $5,500; and then began within 90 days to accelerate the charges to us, although [redacted] had agreed to [redacted]'s terms of 365 days/same as cash/no interest or late fees now totaling over $30,000, which has been posted to both of our credit bureau ratings, slandering our credit in the process. We could not obtain a [redacted] account with [redacted] because our credit was ruined, even if the project had been completed to our satisfaction. They are taking advantage of a disabled man's good nature and now will do nothing about it, but complete the project, remediate the damage to our home, and not restore our credit so that they could right this wrong they have left with us to fix, by not informing [redacted] now d/b/a [redacted] of their clients' declination of their $4,500 offer, because we did not have money to pitch in and make it $5,500 or by not informing [redacted] of the original 365 day terms their clients' agreed to.

If they are not in the business of helping clients obtain financing on terms that the clients can live with, they should only take cash-paying customers.

If they are willing to renew the completion of the contracted project of 8 windows, a storm door, soffits and remediation caused by the incomplete project, they should renew all of the terms of the agreement with the financing company [redacted] accepted and begin the 365 days all over again. But [redacted] refused, and forces us to deal with the credit bureaus.

If they want to restore our very poor credit, they would have to make an attempt to settle with both the declined and accepted financing companies by first returning the money they were wrongfully paid by both companies, get these derogatory claims removed from our credit bureau files claiming $30,000 is 7 years past due, and then wait the 365 days to see if we can obtain financing for the original amount of the contract of $5,500 on our own with no help from them at all, instead of wrongfully taking $10,000 and forcing us to pay it back within 90 days.

Business

Response:

Our two agreements with Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] clearly show that only (7) windows were contracted for in 2007. One agreement was for (4) windows and some other remodeling. and the other was for (3) windows and more remodeling. On Wednesday, September 24th (last week) we spoke with Mrs. [redacted] and we agreed with her that we would install another window for her now at no charge to help resolve their concerns. We will be ordering the new custom window this week. It will be made and delivered to us approximately October 15th. We should have all the work promised to the [redacted]s completed by the end of October.

We will notify the Revdex.com as soon as we are completed to the [redacted]'s satisfaction.

Review: During installation of siding many items were damaged. Company seldom returns calls.

In October, 2012, their crew installed new siding on our home. They rushed us to sign off on the job before we really had a chance to look over their work. We found many problems when we carefully inspected the work. We have been calling them repeatedly and occasionally they respond. They have fixed a few of the problems but there are still many to be addressed. They say they will come or call but seldom do - they keep putting us off. Desired Settlement: We need them to come fix the issues we have identified or give us a refund if we have to fix them ourselves.

So far, one deck railing has been stained. We are still waiting for other work to be done. At least now, they are responding to our calls.

Final Business Response

August 23 - Our Production Manager, [redacted] Beckman has reported that our installers are at the home staining the deck now and will be doing other repairs. They should finish August 28- 29th.

Thank you.

Review: Entered contact w/K-Designers on 2/4/12 for 10,261.15. Doors, windows w/warranty. For 6 mos have been trying to repair work and no luck. Need help.

On 2/4/12 entered contract w/K-Designers and the contract had warranty to come out and fix any factory defects, broken windows for a certain amount of time. Well, haven't had the work done for even 2 yrs and have had problems the total time. Three attempts to correct the problems, three attempts to come out and to no avail, we are still trying to get them here to re align the installs. Frames, screens ect. For 6 mos, I have been put on the back end of appointments only if someone was in the area to for other appointments, they could swing by my address and take a look at my property and try and fix the issue. I am really disappointed with the service of a quality paying customer, and that K-Designer will not honor their contract to fix any factory defects. I pay over $300.00 dollars monthly and can't get anyone out to even look at the products unless they are in the area. Unacceptable on the company's part. I am looking at a Civil Lawsuit just for them to actually pay for their own work and materials, because I can't get them out to do the work right. I would hope that I am not over reacting but after 6 mos, I am actually tired of playing phone tag even with the Corporate Office.Desired Settlement: I would like to suggest that the K-Designers pay for their own material and work thus making my account with the finance company a 0 balance because I feel that the finance company nor I are getting what we are paying for. I am financed through Wells Fargo with one install, and Security Service Financial with the other install. I would consider this a fair settlement.
