I took my car to K and G Auto to get the timing belt changed. When I picked up my car it had significant engine damage caused by their repair work. I called K and G Auto on 11/12/13 to get an estimate on getting my timing belt replaced on my 2003 Honda Accord Sedan V6 and they told me over the phone they could do it for approximately $500. I dropped of the car on 11/13/13 in the morning to have the timing belt changed. At around 2 pm they called to tell me they had changed the timing belt but that my car had significant engine problems related to the engine head and valves. That there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. They determined that a cylinder was bad using a pressure test. They told me that the cause of this was due to the engine likely not being maintained well. [redacted] said he adjusted the valve in an attempt to hopefully remedy the problem but that I one of my 6 cylinders was not working properly. He told me the car would run like this but eventually I would want to get it fixed. [redacted] also indicated to me that the knocking of the engine may get better. [redacted] said that they could fix my cylinder valve problem for an additional $600.These new engine problems made no sense to me. I brought a car into them that was running and changing gears smoothly. I had just purchased the car from a private seller on 11/12/13. I test drove the car paying close attention for 20 minutes on Monday 11/11/13 and there were no issues. The radio was not working in the car so me and my wife had plenty of opportunity to listen closely to the engine. I took the car with the prior owner to [redacted] for the pre-purchase inspection on 11/11/13 and they did not notice any knocking from the engine or any valve problems. I could only believe that the repairs K and G did to my car caused the damage to my valves. I drove the car home on 11/13/13 from K and G and experienced the engine knocking [redacted] talked about for myself for the first time. The car shuttered and vibrated badly upon at idle and low rpms. The car felt as if it was going to stall when at a stop. It was obvious there was significant damage to my car. The way the car was running I needed to have the valve/cylinder repair recommended by K and G completed. However since I thought K and G had caused the damage I wanted to get a second opinion. I called [redacted] on Monday 11/18/13 to see if they would have discovered valve damage when they did their pre purchase inspection. [redacted] said they would have noticed valve damage. I also asked the [redacted] mechanic if putting on the timing belt wrong would have caused the valve damage. They [redacted] mechanic said yes. If a timing belt is put on and its one of two "notches" off it can cause the engine to run bad but if the timing belt is put back on several "notches" off it can cause valve damage. This is what happened when K and G replaced my timing belt. I brought my car back to K and G on Monday, 11/18/13. I told them that I did not think I should have to pay for the damage that they caused. [redacted] insisted he checked the timing after he did it and the timing was correct but this is the only thing that could have caused the valve damage. The car was running fine according to my own experience and the pre purchase inspection completed by qualified mechanics. K and G told me it would be $600 to repair the valves/ head of the engine but they would give me a $100 discount since they understood that my car did not have this problem when it came in. I chose to have them do the work and as I write this letter they are doing the work to fix the car. I need to use the car and need to have it fixed and the $600 figure is very low compared to what it typically costs to get valve damage repaired. However, I should not have to pay anything for this repair and I want any money I give them for this repair refunded because the damage only appeared after they replaced the timing belt on my car and therefore can only be caused by their repair.Desired SettlementI want any money I have to pay to K and G Auto to make repairs to my engine head, valve and cylinders to be refunded because the damage only appeared after they replaced the timing belt.

Customer went to the shop to fix the antifreeze that was suspected to be leaking, came out of the shop with an engine damage.For my [redacted], I used to add a small amount of antifreeze every week after driving the car for more than 170 miles back and forth to work every day. When I decided to check what may cause the antifreeze to go less, I took the car to K & G for checkup. The mechanic checked the car on Tuesday 5/19 and told me that the radiator and the engine are fine. You will need to either change the thermostat or the water pump. You have to get it fixed because if the whole antifreeze runs out, this most likely causes damage to the engine. We have agreed to replace the water pump. I ended up paying $500 to K & G. I dropped the car on Tuesday around 4pm and on Wednesday 5/20 I got a call from the mechanic stating that the car is fixed and ready. I picked up the car and drove around 8-10 miles that day. When I was driving, I heard some kind of cracks or weird noises towards the engine plus burning oil smell. When I got home, I found that the antifreeze is all over the car. The next day, Thursday 5/21, I filled up the radiator with water, which was a lot of water I put inside, and then I took it back to the mechanic to check the problem. I called them on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday to check with any updates, but every time they tell me that we will call you right back but never happened. On Wednesday 5/27 I went to K & G shop and the manager told me that the engine head is blown and the entire engine needs to be replaced. I called [redacted] to pick up the car from K & G and deliver it to one of their auto shops to diagnose the problem. I have received a statement from them confirming that the head gasket is blown and needs to be replaced; the estimated cost from [redacted] is $4,311.53. Desired SettlementI am requesting a full refund of$500 plus $4,311.53 for the damage that was caused by K & G.

The company told me the service was free initially and charged me 300 dollars later.My friend's car involved in an accident at Mar.07,2014. Her car could not be driven anymore, so I towed her car to the K&G Auto service. I asked them to give me a quote for repairing the damage. The receptionist told me they were kind busy that day and it would take some time. I said OK and ask him: Is it Okay for me to leave the car here?" He said Yes. My friend who came with me that day also heard it. I went back to them the coming Monday and they had not start to evaluate the damage yet and a quote was sent to me later that day. It said it would cost me 3000 dollars to fix the car. I consulted with my friend and she did not have that much money, so we decided to towed the car away. I came Tuesday, March 11 and try to get the car away. I told the receptionist that we did not have enough money to repair the car and thank you for the help. I ask him: " Is there anything that I need to pay for?" He said no. So I was waiting for the tow company. While I was waiting, the boss came and told me that I have to pay 300 dollars for the whole checking. I paid them since they would not allow the towed company to tow the car if I did not. I asked the receptionist, what was going on. He said there was a misunderstanding between him and his boss. I said I am not responsible for your mistakes. The reception apologized and said he would be fired if this continued. I asked him to provide the receipt for the bill. On the bill, it said 120 dollars(4 days) storage fee. I did not want him to get fired, but he did tell me that "I was Ok to leave the car here." I have my friend as the witness. So I provided a compromise that I respected your labor and I would pay the rest 180 dollars but not the storage fee. The receptionist said: "please allow a few days for him since the boss was so mad." I said: " Okay, take your time and give a call." I waited for 2 weeks and today I went there again. I asked the receptionist what was the deal. He said there was no deal. I asked to see the boss. I thought I was being so friendly, but the boss was so mad and just say:" Get out! Do whatever you want. If you want to go to court or whatever." I did not think I did anything wrong and I offered compromise first. I did not think I had to pay the storage fee since they did not do anything on Mar 07 (Friday) and the weekend. Furthermore, there was no misunderstanding here since I got the positive answer from the receptionist. I am really angry about their attitude. They thought I would not fight against them for 120 dollars since I am a student. Now, I want every penny back, plus my metal compensation and an official apology from the boss.Desired Settlementfully refund, and official apology.Business Response customer is complaining about $120 storage fee. Rest of $180 diagnosis fee, he agreed with. Our parking lot has small capacity and it's our policy to charge storage fee. we've told the customer it'll be free (no storage fee or diagnosis fee), if he decide to fix at our shop. But he decide not to fix it. So we left with no choice but to charge him. he made a payment right away after we explain about the fee. I don't know why he all of sudden got upset.
