Found this company at the Colorado Garden and Home Show. They were not the cheapest bid but presented themselves well and so they got the job...this was May 2018 The job entailed complete removal of the old patio, stoop and steps. After the pour, it was noticed that the steps were poured with square edges instead of rounded. I immediately informed Kris who was on site and is the owner/supervisor. He first said "No, they are squared off" and then apologized and said "Oh, it's right here in the contract to have rounded edges, we will fix it". They did, but since the concrete had started drying, the finish was rough. At this time we did not know that they had not completely removed the old patio which they charged us for. A few weeks later, cracking started to appear. Large cracking 3/8"x8-10'. We called and called and called and no response, so we decided to " bait " them into coming out by saying we needed a bid on a driveway. Well, they were pretty darn quick to respond to that and K and K sent out their office manager to address the situation of a bid and the cracking. Now this is the weird part... the office manager says she is not the office manager although their website says she is. She states she has 12 years of concrete experience yet, she could offer no explanation of what was going on with our cracking other than to say they were shrink cracks. Really? 3/8"x8'-10' cracks are shrink cracks? We asked for Kris the owner/supervisor to come out. We waited and instead of Kris coming out as we had asked, a few weeks later, two workmen showed up at the door with a bucket of concrete saying they were going to patch these large cracks. They were told no way are we going to accept a patch job on a $6,000.00 patio and were sent away. After that, our calls were blocked and e-mails were not acknowledged. Finally after 3 certified letters to K and K in October of 2018 they came out to fix the cracking on the patio and cracking that had formed on the stoop landing and down the front of the stairs. It was then it was discovered that when they removed the portion of patio that had the severe cracking, the old patio was still underneath! Again, we had been charged for complete removal and obviously it wasn't done. They immediately started to repour over the old patio again despite our objection and when one of the workman was asked to get Kris on the phone, as we couldn't because of them blocking our calls, he said that Kris had left for the day to pick up his kids from school. We told the workman that we were not happy with this, the steps were wavy and uneven and there were pits and holes on the landing. We asked the workman to please have Kris call as the concrete was drying. Kris never followed up. We didn't hear anything from K and K till we contacted the BBB in Jan. 2019 to which K and K said they would reach out to us, they did not. It wasn't until I contacted the Colorado Garden and Home Show that K and K e-mailed and threatened us with defamation. Defamation of what? For them charging us for work they didn't do? For us being upset with their lack of customer service, professionalism and amateur workmanship? For blocking our calls and not being able to communicate with them? Go to Home Advisor and see how their office manager who is not their office manager, manipulate the facts to make the customer look like the one at fault. I am so sorry I ever got hooked up with these people and I am hoping that anyone who reads this will think twice about hiring them.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2015/11/23) */
First off, the Home Owner told us they asked the Revdex.com to retract this complaint and said it is like pulling teeth...hopefully an actual person reads this and her emails; rather than the automated system
We went out to the house a few times to
find solutions One has been reached but weather is playing a factor
Items will be cared for April/May when the weather permits
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 12, 2015/12/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We are working with K&K to find a solution through a third party companyWhile we haven't all come to an agreement about what that solution is, we are confident that they will make this rightHopefully we will hear back from K&K and/or the third party soon to make arrangements for planning out and paying for the fix

We met with both home owners this time to make sure everyone is on the same page. We poured the stamped concrete back patio to have drainage from left to right of the yard (as this is how the builder set up their neighborhood drainage.) In doing so, it sloped the hot tub pad more than the
customer desiredWe have agreed to level out the hot tub pad. The small pool of water is from the stamped concrete process. We are taking (what is otherwise a flat surface) and pressing a design into the concrete. In doing so, this some times creates small pools of water. We originally agreed to cut a control joint in to help with the drainage, but have now agreed to cut in a drain, per the customer's request. The sealant was placed on a little unevenly, so it will be resealed again

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/09/02) */
The customer was present during the entire project We poured psi with fiber, wire mesh and caissons This was a rental house for the customer and we don't know if the 'directions' given to stay off the driveway and garage for days were
followed
A contract is drawn up to protect both parties The customer agreed to the terms of the contract where it states that we will replace those areas that are wider than 1/4" Only one lower corner has such a crack (approxsq.ft.)requires replacement We offered to place epoxy in the smaller cracks free of charge, but he declined
K&K has always been responsive with the plan of action It us unfortunate that the concrete cracked in a few places, but that is expected with the freeze/thaw that Colorado's soil goes through
He admits that the entire front and back patio are just fine, but wants the majority of his money back
We will stand behind our contract and replace the area already discussed with the customer Should any of the hairline cracks become wider, we will replace those as well (pictures of cracks sent to Revdex.com)

No, the house was not a rental And no, no vehicle was driven on the driveway for seven daysAlso the section they agreed to replace is 8ft by 4ft, 32sf not 6sf I was present during the pour and as I said I was told the walkway "had" to be level with the door threshold I am asking for most of my money back because most should be replaced There are major cracks in both the garage and driveway And the side walkway has to be totally redoneI don't want the money, I want it replaced, but I am open to a settlement of less than what I have asked for but so far all I have been told is only one section will be replaced The cracks appearing and a corner falling off at four months are an indication something is wrong What will happen in a year? One winter should not destroy new concrete
Final Business Response /* (4000, 29, 2015/10/16) */
In regards to the walkway, there is a footer built around that garage that goes a MINIMUM of feet deep That is how houses are constructed There is no way that the walkway drainage go cause that much run off and crack the garage floor The walkway was sloped so that it ran to the front yard and down the driveway
Again, K&K Construction has honored their warranty

We had sent a letter to the customer dated 11/10/2017 and were awaiting their response.   There are 2 sides to every story.  Here is our response to this complaint now (see comments in blue): Revdex.com Complaint: We hired K&K construction to remove and replace our driveway, sidewalk and...

front porch. Upon completion of the job we started to have cracks within the first 2 week, previously addressed with the customer and was clear in the contract. Even per the NRMCA, “All concrete has a tendency to crack and it is not possible to produce completely crack-free concrete.”  We prep the sub-grade, make appropriate control joints and do not add water to the concrete mix onsite.  The crack was a 'hairline' crack.  Our contract states that these are normal and should they become wider; we will replace.  As a courtesy to the customer we went out and sealed them with apoxy there were sections of the driveway that were less than 2 inched thick, there was only ONE small section that we have asked multiple times if you are okay with us filling it in.  This section is 4 INCHES by 2 INCHES.   Until the customer agrees, we can't do anything to rectify. and a lot of the shrubs were destroyed I have the original email that only states two rose bushes and one azalea. The raised front porch had to be removed and replaced. The plants were directly next to the area.  We have to be able to access the area for both removal and replacement. Sometimes the surrounding vegetation gets stepped on.  The customer signed the Project Completion Form and didn't tell us until later and not compensated for as promised  K&K is under no obligation to replace, but was going to provide once the walkway issue was worked out. but the major issue is that the sidewalk has a 2 inch slope over the 4 foot width and is sloping into the foundation of the house. This is misleading as the customer has a planter area between the walkway and the garage footer. The walkway doesn’t drain directly into your foundation.  The customer’s property sits on a slight hill – draining West to East. There is also no downspout from the West side of the walkway that would ever cause that much water to run across the walkway, into the planter and down at least 3 feet under your garage footer/foundation. The customer wants to make the top section of the walkway run West (uphill)  In doing so, we have told him that water will pool between the walkway and the grass.  It is against our recommendation, but would do it. We have attempted to communicate both via the phone and in a written certified letter and they have stopped all communication with us. We have corresponded with the customer and were awaiting their decision. Initially we have been lied too and misled as to what we need can do to correct this situation. No lies.  There is a written contract between both parties that covers everything to expect and what our warranty is.  Again, we were waiting on the customer’s response.  We did not go with the cheapest bidder by any means in efforts to get a professional contractor in hopes not to have these types of issues but we have very disappointment in the total lack professional courtesy or no support to address our issues. We understand the customer’s frustrations and have been trying to work with them the entire time.Attachment “Hairline crack” is a picture of the crack.Attachment “[redacted]” shows the layout of the project before and after we performed work with captions for each photo.  Notice the planter space between the walkway and the house.  The walkway is NOT draining into the foundation.

K&K was thoroughly professional, timely and planned and executed a completely successful project. They took out our damaged and sunken steps leading up to our front porch and put in rebar and vertical stantions. They did a tremendous job as everything looks wonderful and they were highly professional which in the retail concrete business is incredibly difficult to find. I would strongly recommend them to anyone requiring concrete work.

I was very pleased with everyone that I worked with at K&K from Dena who came out to measure the job and provided me the inital quote to the owner of the company and his crew who came out and did the work. They were professional, on time, and did exactly what they said that they would do and exactly when they said that they would.
I am very pleased with my new patio and would definitley recommend them.

My wife and I met Dena and Kris (owners of K & K) at the Colo Home and Gardens show. After several meetings with other contractors we decided on K & K. There presentation was by far the most inclusive and professional. We were able to include our needs and desires with them which included Kris designing a magnificent water feature that had a lizard on the wall of the backdrop coming down to drink the water. The water feature had a water fall with a vibrant blue LED creating a colorful water fall. They brought us several colors and patterns of pavers for our choosing which included a sitting wall which Kris installed lighting under the seating area for an added "WOW" feature. Our fire pit had glass chips installed to create a shimmering sensation which keeps guests mesmerized for hours. Yes, the chips were Kris's idea. The entire area was pavered just as we had planned. Kris added additional lighting to high lite the 800 square foot project.
He took our ideas and made a life long treasure for us finishing on schedule and on budget which was the lowest of all bids.

We absolutely loved the job K & K performed on building new retainining walls in our front and back yard. They had to remove all the old, rotten wood and plan, design and install new retaining walls - three to four tiers. A very large job. The job was done in a timely and professional manner. K & K's job was extremely impressivive and beautiful.. We would highly recommend K& K Construction to anyone -- giving K & K a 10.

My husband and I had a stamped patio poured at our new home. We had several contractors come to our home to give us quotes. We chose K & K Construction because of their positive input and demeanor. They met with us on several occasions before our patio was poured -- making sure we got what we were looking for. Both Chris and Dena (owners) were professional and easy to work with. The crew was polite and very hard working. They were at our house until after dark finishing the job. I have found in the past that it is hard to find a good, family owned and operated local business that takes pride in the work they do. I highly recommend K&K Construction and will definitely use them again in the future.
