Review: This company was hired to repair cracks in the mortar around the bricks of my house. They removed the cracked mortar and filled the cracks with mortar that was not replaced flush with the bricks. Every single repair is grooved. There is overlapping mortar on all the surrounding bricks. In some places the mortar dripped in globs on the bricks. The work was sloppy, careless and very incompetently done. Two months later they came back to wash off the excess mortar on the bricks, but it was too late. Everything was set. According to another company, nothing can be done. My house looks worse now than it did before. This will surely be a problem now for resale. I would never recommend this company to anyone.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the damages done to the brick work. Total payment for the chimney at $200 is appropriate, but the remainder $500 charge for the brick damage should be refunded.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

There are a few discrepancies in the response from K. Masonry. First of all the color of the mortar has nothing to do with the sloppy, messy way it was applied. The color that was applied matches the existing color. However, applications are smeared on surrounding bricks which cannot be removed. Secondly, employees were not sent multiple times, they came out once to do repairs and said they could not do anything at that time. They would have to come back to power wash the bricks. They never notified me as to when they were returning even though I gave these two employees my phone number. I only presume they did return to power wash because my garden hose was disconnected and three of my Malibu lights in front of the house were broken. Third, I was never given or offered a discounted price, there is no discount in the contract, nor was one ever mentioned. The chimney was repaired in half an hour and the repointing took two hours. Therefore, I believe $200 for the chimney repair without scaffolding and $500 for repointing my house and front of garage is fair. It took me two hours to clean the mess they left as they never cleaned any debris they left behind.
