Revdex.com transcribed phone conversation from business owner:I took over business in January 2016 and as a new owner agreed and accepted gift cards from previous owner which totaled over $3000.   The previous owner was supposed to compensate me and never did.  Financially I made a decision that I will no longer accept the old gift cards (from previous ownership).   We are now only accepting our own gift cards.  Also, we are now doing business as CP, Inc.

I am rejecting this response because:
I don't believe that a customer should be responsible for the business decisions of the two parties involved in the sale of the business. The gift certificate was sold less than three weeks prior to the supposed sale of the business. In the sale contract,  there should have been terms that included the value of the previously purchased gift certificates. It is the buyers responsibility to ensure the seller holds up his end of the contract or damages should be pursued legally. Not only that, a paying customer in this type of industry would continue to bring in revenue due to the repetitive nature of the services provided there. . The logic used by this new owner is unacceptable and unprofessional. Clearly she was not an educated buyer when she purchased the salon. She should get a judgement against the previous owner if this is the case rather than punish potential customers. That is bad business. I want to be compensated. For me to track down the previous owner to get my $45 it would cost me more in court costs than for current owner to file breach of contract. On another note,  that owner should not have been selling gift certificates in December if he was selling the business the following month. He knew. Sales dont happen overnight. That is fraudulent. People get away with stuff like this because they think they can get away with it. They think this because no One holds them accountable. If I need to follow through with the previous owner, I will because he essentially STOLE money from patrons. Disgusting that a business's poor management decisions have become my problem and how many others that didnt speak up?
