Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is acceptable to me.
Regards,
[redacted]

The invoice was adjusted to a total of $1591.13 plus sales tax of $45.56 totaling $1626.93 after Mr. [redacted]'s comments.  Carpet cleaning and equipment rental are subject to sales tax.  This invoice was adjusted as per Mr. [redacted]'s request for adjustment.  He did receive full payment...

from the insurance company of $2189.96 which is where the original estimate was generated from.  This invoice/matter should be resolved.  We have yet to receive payment from Mr. [redacted].

Review: 1. We hired/paid an industrial consultant to evaluate & write a protocol for mold remediation. That protocol states aggressive method of cleaning: "actively sanded or sand/dry, ice/soda blasted". Any of these methods could be used. The company chose to do an easier method and "wiped down "the area contracted. They failed the clearance test, having to go back and do the sanding technique which cost us hardship, time, and money. They never specified the method of cleaning in their contract, although the consultant provided them with the protocol for cleaning.

2.After the second cleaning was completed on 11/2/12, we were called on 11/7/12 by [redacted] at K-Tech, stating the consultant called him and they needed to get back in to "touch up one spot" and that the consultant would meet him there. He refused to explain why and when we asked the consultant she says she never called [redacted]. We find later that on that day 11/7/12, the lab had already reported the results out to the consultant and she gave them to K-Tech. When the consultant took the samples on 11/2/12 , she tells us that she will call us "immediately" when she gets the results. So now, because the results do not favor K-Tech, we are told by the consultant that she cannot release to us because K-Tech paid for the second test after the first had failed. We say okay, fine. We call [redacted] and ask for results-no reply. On 11/8/12 we receive an e-mail from him that everything passed and the property is released. I ask for a copy of the results-no response. Call the consultant, she says he has the results and should give those to us. Four days later on 11/11/12 [redacted] releases partial results, sample 2-the one that passed. We know 2 samples were taken and ask for both along with the chain of custody, we need this documentation for our records. They continued this behavior of no response and had us calling back and forth to them as well as the consultant. Finally 8 days after the lab reported out results we were given the report. Sample 1 did not pass. K-tech needed to return to the home to do that "touch up" they were so evasive about on 11/7. Those samples were submitted to the lab by the consultant on 11/5/12 and reported to her on 11/7/12. So had we not pursued asking for the lab reports, the home was not properly cleared, although [redacted] stated it was in his e-mail. This was very deceptive on K-Tech's part, especially since we have paid them to date $7,027.88

3.Now the consultant, who has a close relationship with K-Tech, will not write a simple statement stating the home has been properly cleaned and cleared. All along that was the goal, to get this done properly and have a clearance letter from the consultant, K-Tech agreed that we would need that. What we got was a lot of double talk and stipulations about how the home would be cleared, no simple statement, as promised, for the money we paid, not including consultant fees!

4.K-Tech failed to provide an itemized bill for their initial evaluation of the water damage. After K-tech assessed the property, we went with another company the insurance recommended. K-Tech was not happy. We received a bill from them for coming to the home for 1 hour time. The statement said only "invoice for restoration services", $487.50. We, along with the insurance company continually asked for an itemized bill. Two months later, the insurance carrier received a written estimate but never an itemized bill. There is a complaint put in with the Wi. Consumer Protection, so now we have a handwritten itemized bill: 3 hrs for their travel time, 1hr for an estimate that was produced after we went with another company, and scope 2.5 hrs-when [redacted] was at the home for a little less than 1 hour. At the time, before the itemized bill was produced, [redacted] informed us the bill was for loading equipment onto their truck before we cancelled. K-Tech was never involved in any of the initial cleanup, all initial cleanup was completed by the home owners.

5.K-Tech never clearly answered the above issues of why they did not follow the consultant's recommended method of cleaning, why they said the consultant called them to get back into the home on 11/7, why [redacted] told us on 11/8 that the home had passed and was cleared when the lab results that he had stated differently, and why they held our lab results for 8 days costing us hardship, time, and money?Desired Settlement: We would like answers to the clearly stated issues and some form of compensation for their actions.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: K-Tech was hired to a whole house clean up due to a furnace back up that distributed soot and ash throughout the home. The work that was done was inferior and in some areas not even done although we were charged for the work. We were even told by the employees who were doing the cleaning that they did not have the proper tools to do the work to get the areas we had concerns about clean. During the clean up process we tried to get the service rep to view the work but they never came to inspect. During the course of the cleaning we found out the service rep who was in charge of our cleaning had left the company and a new person had taken over the account. We then contacted the new rep and waited for him to view our complaints. That never happened until three days before he left the company although he said he would take our concerns to "the boss'. Since no one was responding to our concerns and the house needed to be clean my wife worked to get the cleaning done. The insurance adjuster told her to keep a record of her time which she did and that amounted to 400+ hours of RE CLEANING carpets, doors, woodwork, fans, light fixtures, windows, wood paneling ( had to be done before painting), vinyl mini blinds (which were supposedly ultrasonically cleaned by K-tech and returned greasy to the touch and dirty) and also furniture that was left streaked after being steam cleaned. The painter (who was not employed by K-Tech) that was hired to paint the entire house had to redo a section of wall with skim coat because of the poor workmanship of the plasterer( K-tech employee). The wall had to be redone to cover the bumps and ridges that were left. We are now more infuriated due to the the follow up of our the billing concern. Pictures were taken of areas that were of concern and sent to K-Tech and the remark that came back to us was, "that is air filtration". I asked to talk to the owner to discuss our concerns and was told he would more than likely not return the call. Your help in this matter is needed since K-Tech is now threatening to put a lien on our home because the bill is not paid and they are not willing to budge on the cost of their shoddy work.Desired Settlement: I have gone through the itemized bill and have a total $1180.32 of work that was not done and then asked for an additional 25% reduction in the remainder of the work which had to be redone. The charges assessed to us were...$8632.50 for the cleaning and $570.80 for the plasterer's work. K-tech did offer to reduce their total by $1000.00 although the itemized total from K-Tech also included a charge of $719.38 for Overhead and a charge $719.32 for profit.

CONTRACTOR:

RE: ID[redacted] Dated

7/1/2014 12:43.53 PM

Purchase Date: On 1-7-2014 3:21 PM [redacted] received a

call from [redacted] informing her “they had a pellet stove back up in the

last week and had a need for a whole house clean but at the very least the air

ducts needed to be cleaned.” At this time they had not called their insurance

company yet.

On 1-8-2014 [redacted] arrived at the [redacted] home at 2:15

PM to scope the cleaning and left at 3:45. We then waited to hear back from the

[redacted]’s in regards to their insurance coverage. On 1-21-2014 [redacted]

arrived at the [redacted]’s home at 12:45 PM for another walk through with the

adjustor assigned by the insurance company; [redacted] of [redacted]. Then

the [redacted]’s called on 1-22-2014 and informed the adjustor, [redacted] that

they were leaving to pick up their son in Texas and would be gone for a week or

so. They will call when they return.

The complaint that the home was not clean is not correct. I

have several emails from [redacted] that state how there is no way…Mrs.

[redacted] could have spent 400 hours cleaning. The complaints of the cleaning

started coming “after” they received their invoices. Mr. [redacted] stated to

[redacted], after receiving a past due, “He was not getting enough from the

insurance company so he wasn’t paying us (K-tech). [redacted] told him “he

should pay us the undisputed amount and argue the rest later.” He has not paid

us a dime on his account and the invoices are from February and March 2014. He

only started filing a complaint “after” we filed the intent to lien.

We were never told of a problem except for the filtration

lines. In Wisconsin we have “Right to Cure”. K-tech had a right to respond to

the claim but was not given the opportunity before the [redacted]’s “cleaned it

themselves”.

Mr. [redacted] asked for an inspection in April and K-tech sent

[redacted] to look at the work. What [redacted] saw was air filtration in photo’s

because there was nothing to see and everything was clean. K-tech would have

re-cleaned anything that we were told about but we were never told or offered

the opportunity. We tried to explain

this to Mr. [redacted] but he said “it was lies and did not even want to discuss

it”.

We offered him $1000.00 off his invoice because this had

been dragging out and we had already started the lien process. He refused!

Would not even consider it and asked for $3,000.00 off his invoice.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

In response to the response to the Revdex.com from K-Tech Kleening. Yes, we started questioning the cleaning before the crews had left the house and after the itemized statement dated Feb. 28, 2014 arrived. We had called and asked to have someone come and inspect the cleaning because it was not done properly. Calls had been placed to [redacted] to come and look the job over but he never came. [redacted] answered one of the calls in mid March and said he would be in the area and would stop at our house after he checked on a home in the Vesper area. Again he was a no show and more time was going by and Kathy continued to clean. K-Techs "Right to Cure" went unanswered in our request for inspection from [redacted] until he arrived in April. At that time the house was not totally cleaned and [redacted] saw not only the pictures that were taken but some of the residue on the woodwork and blinds. He told me to send the pictures to him via email which I tried to do but I was told by [redacted] she would have to check [redacted]'s email since he was no longer working for K-Tech and after having checked I was told there were no pictured. When [redacted] was at the house there was no offer to remedy the inadequate cleaning. [redacted] also told us that a couple of the employees that were in on the cleaning of our house were no longer working for K-Tech and he was also leaving at the end of the week. This was our last conversation with [redacted] and during his visit he mentioned nothing of air filtration. It was [redacted] that told me that [redacted] had actually left on Wednesday of the same week he was at our home. Since no email had any pictures we had the pictures developed and were some of them were sent to K-Tech via Priority Mail around the 17th of May 2014. I called K-Tech the next week to see if the pictures were looked at and was told the boss was on vacation in Australia and would not be back until the 3rd of June 2014. I called K-Tech again to check on the pictures and was told the boss would be back on the 8th of June and did not see them I called again after the 8th and said the boss says it is air filtration and was leaving to go to a cabin "up north" and could not speak to me.

K-Tech was great for removing the mold in our home after our kitchen sink leaked slowly and caused much mold damage in the kitchen flooring and basement wall. What they are terrible at, is putting your home back together. They replaced our kitchen floor so badly that there were large holes in the corners and tears around counters. It took us a year of requesting that it be fixed for them to give us some of what we wanted. I would never let them into my home again. Not only were they incompetent, but they tried to trick me into paying for the second new flooring myself.
