Review: My name is [redacted]. I was contacted in September by Food City regarding bad checks written on a closed account with my former bank. I recently relocated to [redacted] TN and was shocked to see that these checks were being used around my my new city. There were five seperate checks written at three store locations in [redacted] TN. The stores were [redacted] Pike, and [redacted] City. The total of the checks in question is over $500 and I am willing to pursue legal action against the criminal. My complaint arises from failed communication with the Food City employees with concern to resolving this matter. Also I am filing this complaint because of the identification processes of the Food City stores. Once I received the request to repay the checks, I called to inform them that the checks were written in fraud. I was treated like I was lying and a criminal. I waited to hear from the Food City personnel with regards to what needed to occur next. The only communication that I received was 5 certified letters claiming that charges would be filed if the checks were not paid within 15 calendars of the filing with the county district attorney. Once I spoke to the person who filed I was told I had fifteen days no matter what. She was rude and heartless. The bigger issue that I believe needs to be addressed promptly is that Food City initialed off on checks that were not accuratley verified with government issued ID. There were iniatials present on the checks stating that members of Management verified that the ID was the correct ID and that everything was verified. Essentially this states that they performed their due dilligence and followed procedure which they clearly did not. I am appalled by this type of negligence and am considering legal action against them.Desired Settlement: I would like the checks that have been paid to avoid criminal prosecution to be returned for payment.
