We have used KAB on two occasions. One for a generator panel. We were quoted a cost around $[redacted], it turned out to be over [redacted] They did not lets us know what the additional cost would be before they did the work. They did the work and then expected us to pay, which we did.
We used them on another occasion indirectly through a contractor who was helping us to remodel our kitchen. We knew it was going to cost some money to renovate but it was disappointing not to get some kind of scope of cost on the electrics. W had [redacted] come to give us an estimate, initially, who then directed us to [redacted] was a great referral. He pretty much delivered. [redacted] said he would handle the electric contractor, saying he would use KAB, he had worked some other jobs with you. When [redacted] told me the the final electric bill, I swallowed hard, I had a hard time believing it, but we paid the bill! No calls, no complaints, no hassles, just paid the bill, they were not going to get a call. I didn't like it but It was my fault for not getting more cost information, shame on me! BUT, when my wife took me to the basement to see the lines hanging and the mess on the floor of our closet they worked in, that was just a little too much, that was shame on them!
We feel the work that was done by KAB was professional and their conduct courteous, but from a housekeeping perspective, we were very displeased in three areas:
1. Electrical lines were left dangling from the ceiling, not tied up in our downstairs closet. The line was draped over the furnace and hot water heater, both which are gas.
2. Also in the closet, and the space under the stairs, there was considerable wood dust, wood chips and wood splinters that were laying on the floor or laying on the furnace. Having worked in the explosive and chemical industry, the wood could have caused significant safety concerns around the gas ignitions. My wife got all of it cleaned up before I could get pictures.
3. In the kitchen, there were electrical wires, wire casings, from snipping wires, and debris from cutting dry wall, setting outlets, wires, etc. that was left on the floor or on the counter for my wife to clean up. I understand it was a work zone but it was also a living zone, we still had to live there! It got tracked all through the house!
The bottom line is for [redacted] plus, we thought the service would have included some housekeeping. That is what we call being a finisher! As stated, we felt we got professional service, on the electrical work that was done, we are somewhat confident it will meet code, but with the shoddy housekeeping, we wonder if there were corners cut and will we have problems with the electrics in the future. I am sure you can appreciate it is a perspective issue! How am I going to respond to the people I work/associate with when they ask what is the quality of work KAB provided, and was it economical? I will be truthful.
