grievance dept avoids answers
have sent in several grievances reports for months now, they appoint a case worker finally who neglects calling, then tells me I need a certain from filled, send it in and she still neglects getting back, you go in circles calling them up to move forward, their system is made to stall the victims and have them give up

We've attempted to contact Kaiser to discontinue sending us print ads for the past 2-3 years. They still continue to do so. We have all the email records to prove this.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

My boyfriend had surgery on 9/16/19 when I took off of work to take care of him. When I asked the Orthopedic for a note she said It needed to be requested on the day of surgery which nobody once told me or my boyfriend. I explained that I am not looking for a backdated note, the note can be dated today explaining that my boyfriend got surgery on 9/16. I keep getting transferred between customer service and appointments with nobody able to help me. When I asked to be transferred to the Orthopedic department they said they do not speak with patients directly so I don't understand how a patient is not allowed to talk to their doctor.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Even though I did receive the work slip, I was directed to call customer service and request a patient advocate. The customer service agent said that there's no patient advocate on Maui but transferred me to Oahu. The person I was transferred to in Oahu had no idea what a patient advocate was. Speaking with the doctor, the appointments desk, and customer service several times over the course of the last month has proven that the patient advocate simply does not exist in Hawaii. At one point a customer service manager put me on hold for over 10 mins while she was trying to connect to the patient advocate directly herself before picking back up the phone and saying the number she has is a dead end. I would like to have to be put in direct contact with this patient advocate

Sincerely

We are a restaurant located in Honolulu. We obtained health insurance for our employees through Kaiser during the time we were in operation and then we ended up closing the business at the end of February 2019, and a new restaurant came into the business space. All of our former employees were terminated at the end of February. Before we closed the restaurant, we notified Kaiser that we were closing our business and asked to stop billing us after February. They still billed us for the month of March. It took countless phone calls and emails back and forth, showing them records that we were closing and had requested to stop payment, before they acknowledged our request and stopped service.

Now, for the month of March, they already acknowledged that they stopped service at the end of February and that they had billed us for March and so we were owed a refund. But they have not sent us a refund check. They sent a billing statement showing that they owed us a refund, but they won't send it to us. I requested that it be sent since the end of February when they billed us, and have continued following up with them, emailing them over and over, but they won't even respond to my emails. I know they are getting them, as they initially responded when I asked about the process to close our account. I would like them to just send us the refund we are owed in a timely manner, as it has been more than a month of requesting that it be done, repeatedly.

Kaiser Permanente-Hawaii Response • May 09, 2019

As per our conversation, this email is to confirm that the complaint filed by Mr. on April 6, regarding a delay in his refund has been resolved. My membership administration team spoke with Mr. on May 1, 2019 and Mr. confirmed receipt of refund check and confirmed he has not yet cashed the check.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thank you!

My Kaiser health plan includes an annual visit to the doctor and I have been charged for the visit for two years consecutively. The doctor's office personnel tell me that because during the visit we discussed 'existing conditions', the visit is chargeable. It was the doctor who initiated the visit, not I.
You visit your doctor once a year and you shouldn't discuss existing conditions? Who would imagine you'd be charged for a discussion. Besides, the doctor brought up my health history. It's part of his job. I believe they not being up front about this issue.

Under ***, I was forced into buying healthcare or be penalized at tax time and so I pay over $*** a year for Kaiser service that I rarely use because of the additional charges they apply. Below I am including a response from a nurse in the doctors office with regards to my complaint.

Message body:
Dear ***
Thank you for contacting us regarding billing concerns you have and I apologize for the frustration this may be causing. During your last visit with *** dated 4/4/18, ongoing health concerns including *** and *** were discussed. Physical exams are visits that are health maintenance screens that do not include a discussion or review of new or existing problems and may not require a visit fee. This will be dependent on your health plan coverage. Office visits are often scheduled as a routine follow up visit, often scheduled annually to review ongoing chronic health concerns to assure that the care plan created by yourself and your physician is working and may require a visit fee, along with other costs. Because ongoing health concerns were discussed during your 4/4/18 visit, the visit was designated as an office visit.

If there are ongoing questions regarding this bill, please contact Member Services at 432-4955.

Thank you
