Kal's Automotive Center Reviews (5)

RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted] . In response To Kal's Automotive's response #1 This is not a fraudulent claim asking for a total refund of said manifold replacement 2,459.40 and 2 lines replacement 599.17. His Insurance co paid only to fix the damage that occurred from the result of the paid 2 jobs listed. (Engine being Replaced). The insurance agent (name and number upon request) suggested we go after a full refund as the truck was completely ruined from their negligence. We paid 3,000.00 to a mechanic who severely damaged parts of the truck and hid it from us. The 3 lines did not need to be replaced as the leak was coming from the engine block. They just assumed that was where the leak was. They just kept saying things were wrong and wanted more money so we pulled the truck. We brought the truck to another mechanic and it took time and weeks to diagnose and get to the root of the problem. "The punctured engine. " That is why so much time lapsed between calls with Kal. The truck did not sit for 2 years. The truck was at Kal's automotive and per conversation with my uncle, *** drove the truck on a regular basis to keep it in good running condition. The truck is a 2010 [redacted] Sport Track with 61,000 miles we have pictures and proof of its good condition. (other than it needed new manifold gasket). I have a box full of broken parts from the damage done by Kal's Automotive while fixing the manifold and lines. I also have documentation and pictures from the mechanics stating what they observed apon receiving and working on the truck. Per New Mechanic": New manifold installed was ruined. Quoted by mechanic : Exhaust manifold front left side we removed the "New" manifold from original for the customer. during removal we noticed that the rearward lower stud was replaced with a piece threaded rod. which led to notice that the "New" manifold was drilled out to work with the treaded rod. Per New Mechanic: Front sway bar frame Bracket: To disconnect engine from motor mount, you need to drop the sway bar to gain access to bolts that keep everything together. The sway bar frame bracket was welded to the vehicle frame. We had to grind down the weld and install nut and bolt to correctly secure the bracket. This is un ethical and unsafe as the weld could have let go causing engine to fall. We were not told of this and many more mishaps while truck was under Kal's care. There is more and information, pictures can be furnished upon request. We are asking for a full refund on Manifold job 2, 459.40 and 2 lines job 599.17 Total: $3,058.57These jobs were completed and paid in full prior to finding out about damaged done and hidden from customer. ( It has nothing to do with Insurance Claim) We request a full refund as jobs completed by Kal's Automotive were severely botched, it damaged vehicle as to where we are no longer are comfortable with the vehicle as the used engine put in ( paid for by insurance claim) is just not the same. We wanted our original engine!! but due to the severity of the damage done to truck by Kal's automotive this could not happen. Also we have not even been able to enjoy the new vehicle as it was purchased from family in great condition (minus manifold gasket need repair)and *** began to work on it right away as it had been at his shop where he drove it and wanted to purchase it, but I was family and was given first preference. It has been in and out of the shop since date of purchase over 2 months which has caused time out of work, no vehicle to drive and stress on us. We should get our money back!!! Job was not completed in a satisfactory manner!! Regards, [redacted]

First and foremost the customers statement that I used foul language is a blatant lie against my character and one of many in this complaint. My business did replace the exhaust manifold on the *** ***. The age of the truck, the mileage, its previous location in Maine and the
fact that the truck sat and was not driven for almost years all contributed to the rusted and corroded conditions that we were forced to deal with while making the repairs. As stated there were bolts that snapped and had to be drilled and tapped out of the right head. In order to do that, the engine needed to be removed from the truck. The job was completed and the vehicle was picked up on March 30, 2017. Six days later the truck was brought back to address a new problem they were experiencing. We found a transmission fluid leak. We attributed the leak to rusted cooler lines and explained this to the customer who asked us to replace the lines. We were able to replace of the lines but the third line that connects to the radiator was so rusted it could not just be replacedI informed the customer that inorder to replace the third line a new radiator and the connected line was the only option. The customers husband declined the repair of the third line and radiator and told me to leave them intact. Almost a month later on April 25, 2017 I got an email from *** stating that the truck was at another shop and that the head had been damaged from the taping of one of the studs. She sent a picture which I could see the problem and acknowledged it. She said she was not comfortable bringing the truck back to my shop to address the stud damage and told her I completely understood and would put in an insurance claim right away to cover the replacement cost of the damaged head. Towards the middle of May I received another email stating she wanted all her money back from all the other previous repairs and I responded with a No. The issue with the damaged head was repaired and covered by the insurance company. The third cooler line and radiator that she had replaced by the new repair shop was something I told them to have done while the truck was at my shop and I am in no way responsible for a repair they eventually decided to do elsewhere. The fact the she is trying to collect money from me to pay for repairs that were already paid by the Insurance Company constitutes insurance fraud and only strengthens my opinion that this claim is a fraudulent one

I will not be restating my previous statements againBut I will respond to the numerous erroneous statements made in the customers last response I did NOT drive this truck on a regular basis and did not maintain it in any way As a favor to an elderly neighbor the truck was occasionally started and driven for a short distance I was told by a relative that a family member was thinking of buying the truck I said if they didnt buy it I would look the truck over fully and see what what repairs were needed and make an offer The customer should have taken this truck to their mechanic for a full inspection before they purchased it This is something that is done by everyone who purchases a vehicle If the customer is now having buyers remorse that is not something I am responsible for and Iam in no way responsible for the additional problems that the truck has that the customer would have know about if they had it inspected I am only responsible for the manifold job The customer paid for a manifold and the truck has a new manifold I am emphatically stating that there was no hidden damage caused by my shop and I will Not be paying for any additional repairs or issuing any refund

I feel the business owner is being unfair We are requesting a refund as we were not satisfied with the work done on the truck The business severely damaged the truck without telling us and we had to replace the entire engine and we feel we are due a total refund on the un-satisfactory work done on the vehicle Consumers should not have to pay $3,to a business for bad work Please let me know how to proceed with this as I am not accepting his response
