letter to your office from [redacted] regarding his dissatisfaction and request for refund.
I would like to note that Holiday Retirement manages Communities across the United States and Canada. While we provide amenities to simplify the lives of our resident we are an independent retirement community. Our business model allows for 3 meals a day in the dining room at set times in all of our Communities. By doing this it allows residents to interact and provides socialization with their neighbors. Typically our apartments are not furnished and we do not provide telephones in the rooms. However, when Mr. [redacted] pointed out he did not have a cell phone, we provided him with one for his use while at the Community. .
In reviewing the details it has been determined that Mr. [redacted] was in contact with the Kalama Heights management in November and December 2013. Through emails Mr. [redacted]’s requested to stay one month February 2014 and an agreement was sent to him and signed December 29, 2013 (returned on 30th) confirming the “Snowbird Lease”. The amount to be paid and length of time was specified in the lease. In addition to the agreement the manager provided a summary of the service. (See below)
[redacted] who also has stayed at the Kalama Heights Community the past 2 years during February, told Mr. [redacted] about this Community as they live in the same building in WA and she has enjoyed her stays. They would be arriving on the same day.
In regards to Mr. [redacted]’s complaint we would like to point out that we are not a hotel and that Kalama Heights is one of a few Communities that allow for short stays. As Mr. [redacted] has traveled extensively it would seem reasonable that he would be aware of the difference in a Retirement Community and other accommodation. Nevertheless, in order to rectify the situation we are going to refund the difference of the days he did not occupy the apartment at Kalama *eights. A refund will be issue for the 17 days in the amount of $1,972.51 and check will be mailed to his address in Seattle.
After reviewing all the records we believe the Community acted in good faith. We hope that the information provided suffices as a response to the complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] and the claim can be resolved.

I was unable access the response from the company in question. *owever, the same day as your
letter arrived, a check for $1,972.51 arrived in the mail from the Maui organization.

This check is accepted as 100% resolution of my complaint and the case should be marked Resolved.
I am most grateful for your assistance in resolving this issue in such a rapid and successful manner.
