We are sorry to see that this is still unresolved, per the
gentleman who filed the complaintWe previously investigated this complaint when
it was made on Octas complaint ID and were informed by the Revdex.com
that it was considered closed as of Novafter the
complainant indicated he
was satisfied
In this new complaint on the same issue, the gentleman said that his account
was closed in December 2013, so we wouldn’t have been able to refund the subscription
amount to his credit card.As noted in the previous complaint response, we investigated
complaint and came up with the information showing that the credit card
processor, Paymentech, sent a refund to this gentleman’s bank (see attached for
transaction details)
The money was refunded to *** *** *** *** (***), ***, in
August, but we have no way of confirming where it went once it reached the bank. The
money was not returned to Paymentech, and no indication was received from the
Bank that the account was closedPerhaps on request of this gentleman, the
bank would be able to look up the transaction using the information provided by
Paymentech?
I hope the Bank will be able to help track down the money
that was refunded for the cancelled subscription.Thank you
Sincerely,

We researched the customer's claim that he did not receive
his refundAccording to the company that processes orders and refunds, his refund
was processed on Aug18, for $to the credit card number with the last four digits listed on the attached transaction
informationRefunds are given to the customer in the same way the order was paid for, so that's the reason this was a credit card refund
If the customer has any questions or
needs further research on the refund, he may contact me at ###-###-#### or our

We're sorry that this has been such a difficult process for the complainant. We hoped he would be able to contact his bank to see where the refund ended up. Because this is not an option, we are providing a full refund of $49.98 to this customer by check. It is being processed today, and he should receive it within 2-3 weeks, but most likely, he will receive it sooner. [redacted]

Response:

Here are the details from investigation of this matter: Gift Giver ordered a gift subscription to [redacted] magazine for Customer on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Gift Giver asked that the first issue and a gift card be sent in a week, but due to mailing procedures, Kalmbach was unable to provide the first issue and a gift card in that timeframe. Gift Giver was told that the first issue (the April issue) would be mailed on Wednesday, February 24, and that it would take 2-3 weeks to be delivered Customer's address. On Friday, Feb. 5, Gift Giver contacted Kalmbach Customer Service and asked that gift card be mailed to Customer so it would be received by Monday, February 15. Gift Giver was advised that the card had been mailed, but we could not guarantee arrival by February 15. Customer Service confirmed that the April issue of [redacted] magazine would be the first issue received by Customer. Gift Giver contacted Kalmbach Customer Service on Tuesday, March 1, and said that the delivery time was “ridiculous because the stores already have the April issue.” Gift Giver contacted Kalmbach Customer Service on Tuesday, March 8, asking when first issue of gift subscription would arrive, and was advised that it should arrive by Friday, March 11. Gift Giver contacted Kalmbach Customer Service on Friday, March 11, and said that the issue had not arrived. Customer Service ordered a replacement issue and told Customer it would be sent out the next business day and would take up to 10 days for the replacement issue to arrive. According to procedure, the issue was sent out by first-class mail on Monday, March 14. If the magazine does not arrive, Customer or Gift Giver is welcome to contact Customer Service at ###-###-#### for further review of the issue.

Response:

We're sorry that our Customer has had such a difficult time receiving his first issue of a gift subscription. To make sure that he receives his issue, we sent a third copy to him by UPS at his designated address, which is a UPS Store. Attached are the tracking for his package and the proof of delivery, which show that it was delivered to his address on March 24. The labels for the next issue of his gift subscription will be printed this weekend, and he should receive it at his designated address by April 15. If he does not receive it, he should call Customer Service at ###-###-####, and we will make sure he receives the issue.

Review: Dear Revdex.com:

Discover Magazine has failed to provide me a refund for my subscription [redacted] cancelled on August 12, 2014 in the amount of $ 49.98. They are claiming that they issued the refund to my acct on Aug 18 2014, but I closed this account in December 2013. I did provide them official bank information from [redacted] but they have ignored this information. The issue here is that their vendor who manages subscriptions, [redacted], is keeping the money and providing an internal transaction confirmation which is not and official bank confirmation but internal to their system. I had the same issue with [redacted] who also uses [redacted] but they provided me a full refund.Desired Settlement: Refund check for $49.98

###-###-####

Sirs/Ladies,

I am having trouble with Discover Magazine, My # [redacted]8, 8[redacted].

ON 2/18/14 (Feb.) I sent in a $37. check (#2039). It was to extend subscription by 2 years, which they did, & to receive their special Eistenstein Issue. 4 months & still NO special E. Issue.

Since around April 15, I've called 4-5- times, told repeated lies.

Value of special issue $7. I would like MY $7 returned. Already signed up for Science Mag.

Thank u.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like MY $7 returned.

Response:

We investigated this complaint and found the following:

The complainant did send in a $37.00 check for a 20-issue subscription for $30.00 and $7 for a copy of the special Einstein issue. Due to a misunderstanding, the order processing team applied $30.00 to payment for the 20 issues for $30.00 subscription offer, but didn't apply the other $7.00 to a purchase of the Einstein issue. We have not been able to uncover why the complainant did not receive the Einstein issue. However, we are refunding his $7.00 per his request and will send him the Einstein issue for no charge for his trouble.

We apologize for any problems this has caused for the complainant. He is welcome to contact me at ###-###-#### if he has any further concerns.

Sincerely,

Executive Assistant

Kalmbach Publishing Co.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I got one year subscription of the Discovery Magazine. It was all well and I have no problems with the magazine. At one time I got a letter saying that I need to pay for the DVD that they sent me. And threatened me with the collection agency unless I pay for the DVD. Since I did not order a DVD or received one, I did not pay. This time, I got a letter saying that unless I contact them to cancel my subscription for the magazine, I will be billed for the next year. I don't believe that I should be canceling anything. I bought it for one year and that's it.Desired Settlement: I want them to leave me alone and keep their magazine. Seems to me like their business practice is questionable here.
