May 3, 2017Dear [redacted] ,This letter serves to acknowledge receipt and respond to your letter dated April 27, which was received by our office on May 2, 2017.As per our Conditions of Sale (see enclosed copy), the very first section "1.a" addresses the condition of items purchased at auction:Examination of property"Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any property in which they are interested, before the auction takes placeIf a bidder is unable to view an item in person, they are responsible for obtaining/requesting a condition report and/or additional photographs prior to bidding to determine an article's condition, size and any other pertinent informationWe strive to be fair and forthright with our descriptions and Condition reports, however bidders must acknowledge that antique items often show signs of use and wear, which might not be specified in a condition reportIf you have very particular taste, it is advisable that you inspect items in person, as your definition of condition may be more exacting than a specialist could have time to verify." [redacted] did not physically come to our gallery to inspect the items he purchased nor did he request a Condition Report. In regard to the chandeliers and the crystal being "assembled", it is standard operating procedure within the antiques community for chandeliers to be "undressed" (crystal removed from the chandelier) prior to shippingWhile it is time consuming to dress a chandelier, it is the only safe and acceptable way to ship a chandelier and keep the delicate crystal intact and unbroken. We are disappointed that [redacted] is unhappy with his purchaseSince we sell items with substantial age, it is very common for items to have considerable "use and wear"That is the reason we advise clients to request condition reports and adjust their bidding to coincide with the condition of each item.Thank you very much and do not hesitate to contact me for further information Sincerely,Jeffery KPresident & CEO

I am rejecting this response because:It is their responsibility to photograph the items for sale that are being sold and be truthful about the photographs. Had they done so, we would not be having this conversation. They want to blame me for not asking questions and yet they are the ones who falsely represented their product in the photos they put out. I am actually embarrassed for them.....because their owner never even had the manhood to call me, another business owner, himself to discuss it. He hid behind a secretary and his auction house rules.Where in the rules does it say that they can lie about the photographs being of the product they are selling? Had I bout through live auctioneers they would have lost their license.
