KAP Electric Reviews (1)

Over at Mrs. [redacted]’s house we were first there on 5/22/17 to give a quote on removing and installing kitchen lights as well as the landscape lights out front. In our quote, it stated that we were to provide a 600w transformer and wire for the landscape lights and Mrs. [redacted]...

was to provide the lights. We suggested that she gets LED bulbs as they give off better lighting for her house. In the kitchen, we explained to her that we would remove the old light and try and move it over because it didn’t look right where the placement was located. We made an appointment with her to come out 5/30/17 at 1pm. As we requested before we told her to purchase the lights for the front and the kitchen. She replied that she would on the weekend of the 27th. We scheduled it for 2 guys to be there as it would take a long time to get all the work finished in a timely manner. On the 30th we called to let her know that we were on our way to come her house. She stated that she didn’t buy the landscape lights yet but we can still come over and get started on the kitchen lights and we would take about the landscape light. As we got started on the kitchen light we had to remove the old light we realized that the joist was nothing like the ones in the basement like we anticipated. We tried to figure out ways to get the wire through the studs without cutting into the drywall. We were there for about 1 hour each person so a total of 2 hours not 10mins as she claimed. Once we figured out there was no way that we could get the wire from one side to the other we explained to her that the only way that we could do this is cutting dry wall. She stated that she would have to talk to her husband about it. She asked if she was to pay us for showing up today and I told her no that we will put it on the next bill when we do the landscape lights. I told her when she gets the lights to give us a call when she is ready to install the lights. We finally made an appointment for July 18th to do the landscape lights. As we stated in the quote we supplied the wire and the 600w transformer. Although she did buy the lights we only quoted her to install 5 total lights. We ended up installing 10 or 11 lights with no additional charge. We installed 4 spot lights and 6 or 7 post heads. I did explain to her that the landscape post lamps are only pulling .5w per fixture we still ended up installing them. I told her if they aren’t bright enough we can install more lights to help her out. A week goes by and I received a text me that her sump pump breaker keeps tripping when the lights turn on and that the lights aren’t bright enough in the front. I explained to her that the front lights need to be replaced because they aren’t bright enough. She refused to do that stating that she didn’t want to pay more money to take those out and install new ones. The sump pump and the landscape lights are on 2 different circuits so there is no way that the lights can cause the sump pump breaker to trip out. We end up coming out the 28th and changed out the breaker for the sump pump free of charge and the sump pump stopped tripping the breaker. About 2 or 3 days later we still got a text message about the lights still not being bright enough and still tripping out. At that time, we were completely busy and we were going on vacation August 5th-13th. We made an appointment to come out August 18th to add more lights to the landscape lights. Which I told her to do that we would charge additional 25.00 per light. She was mad that I was charging her more money after I charged her 750.00 for everything we have done before. When we got there on the 28th there were 4 more lights she wanted to be installed. While we were there we also changed out the wire and installed a new breaker which was a 20a inside the panel thinking maybe their breaker was bad or even the wire. Mrs. [redacted] also asked if we drilled any holes around the A/C unit because her A/C keeps tripping after we left the last time we were there. I told her that the holes we drilled were on the side of the house and the A/C unit was in the back plus the unit is on 240v and we weren’t near the A/C unit. After everything was done we didn’t charge her anything for the work we did. Then on August 21st I received another text message from Mrs. [redacted] and now stated that everything worked fine on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but then started to trip out again. She texted me on the 22nd and said the lights started to trip the lights out. I asked her that the lights worked up until Monday night and they tripped out.  She replied yes. Then again texted me on the 23rd saying the lights tripped out and is also tripping out the post light when the landscape lights turned on. I explained to her that it was impossible because they are on 2 different circuits and the landscape lights are only rated 12v where the post light is rated at 120v and that we never touched the post light. She then replied that it did it also on the 21st. But never told me this on the 21st she also stated that they are turning off a 9:02pm the last to nights and that it probably will turn off again today. On August 23rd, I made a trip over there at night to see exactly what is going on. I got there about 8:45pm and waited for the lights to turn on. Exactly 8:59pm the landscape lights turned on. The post light didn’t work though. The lights were on once we left at 9:15pm. We took pictures and video of everything for documentation. After all was said and done I believe I addressed Mrs. [redacted] and all of her complaints and requests as well as I could. If at any point I didn’t respond to her as quickly as she like was because I was out of state on vacation with my family, which I informed her of. I made multiple trips to her home to complete my work with and without payments. Even without her knowledge to document date and times of working lights. In the end, unfortunately Mrs. [redacted] was not happy with my efforts but I’m confident in my work and I did everything I could for her. I take pride in my work and this one complaint does not define my work ethic or professionalism as reflected in my many reviews and ratings on [redacted] Keith P[redacted]KAP Electric###-###-####
