The business is incorrect in several regardsFirst, to defer and complete the course at a later date, I would need to pay an ADDITIONAL $to the companyThat is not something I am capable of doingSecond, initially the instructor of the course said that he would accommodate me and allow me to complete a missed workshop by doing a day of training with me the day before the next workshopThis was suggested by the school, I did not ask I was told by the instructor that he'd make the arrangements and get back to meAs I understood, it was a done deal I never heard back from the instructor and when I emailed him back, he responded with no arrangements having been made and said that if he did make arrangements, I would need to pay for his hotel and the rental for the day at the training schoolI have every email documenting thisEvery aspect of this school (it's really a profit-seeking company), after paying the tuition, required some sort of further financial output from meDue to my situation that I explicitly explained to the school and offered to show medical documentation, paying more and more money to the school was not an option, on TOP of my medical condition and the condition of my hospitalized husbandThe bottom line is I am asking for some compassion here I never went to a workshop, I had very minimal email contact with my instructor, I did a few of the online lessons which were [redacted] -type slides that required NO human input from the school I completed lesson ahead of time, and never got feedback from my instructor on the written assignmentSO the only thing I really completed and got feedback/instruction on is online lessons ONLY, and NO workshops I would hope that a company could show some ethics and realize that my situation is extreme and I had to drop the course after taking up a BARE MINIMUM of the company's resourcesI will continue to pursue this matter and NOT let it rest Regards, [redacted]

Karen Pryor Academy’s tuition policy is clearly stated in its Student Handbook, which the school requires all students to read prior to enrollmentAll enrollees must acknowledge that they have read and understood the tuition requirements and policiesThe following is an excerpt from the Student
Handbook, which is publicly available on the KPA website:Tuition is non-refundable once enrollment is complete, except as follows: If a student withdraws within days of enrollment AND before viewing Lesson 1, the tuition paid is 100% reimbursable minus a $administrative charge and the tuition deposit. The complainant, who completed Lessons through over the course of about a month, does not meet either of the above criteria for a refundAs an alternative to withdrawing from the course, the complainant was offered special accommodations, including the opportunity to defer to the next class series or the opportunity to attend a special makeup workshop with her instructorThe complainant chose not to exercise either of those optionsKaren Pryor Academy does offer workshops in ***Those workshops are governed by *** state law and thus, fall under a different tuition and refund policy

The business is incorrect in several regards. First, to defer and complete the course at a later date, I would need to pay an ADDITIONAL $1000.00 to the company. That is not something I am capable of doing. Second, initially the instructor of the course said that he would accommodate me and allow me to complete a missed workshop by doing a day of training with me the day before the next workshop. This was suggested by the school, I did not ask.  I was told by the instructor that he'd make the arrangements and get back to me. As I understood, it was a done deal.  I never heard back from the instructor and when I emailed him back, he responded with no arrangements having been made and said that if he did make arrangements, I would need to pay for his hotel and the rental for the day at the training school. I have every email documenting this. Every aspect of this school (it's really a profit-seeking company), after paying the tuition, required some sort of further financial output from me. Due to my situation that I explicitly explained to the school and offered to show medical documentation, paying more and more money to the school was not an option, on TOP of my medical condition and the condition of my hospitalized husband. The bottom line is I am asking for some compassion here.  I never went to a workshop, I had very minimal email contact with my instructor, I did a few of the online lessons which were [redacted]-type slides that required NO human input from the school.  I completed lesson 6 ahead of time, and never got feedback from my instructor on the written assignment. SO the only thing I really completed and got feedback/instruction on is 5 online lessons ONLY, and NO workshops.  I would hope that a company could show some ethics and realize that my situation is extreme and I had to drop the course after taking up a BARE MINIMUM of the company's resources. I will continue to pursue this matter and NOT let it rest.
