In response to the complaint by *** ***, regarding a request for refund due to training not being performed (yet):*** *** and *** *** stated, at the time of his evaluation, that *** was born on January 3, This date of birth would make this puppy weeks of age at the time of the
evaluation (3/30/2016)Based on this information given by the owners, the initial start date for the training program was set for 4/11/2016, when the puppy presumably would have been the minimum age to start of to weeksLooking at the calendar later that eveningMrP*** realized that the start date should actually be 4/18/to accomplish the desired age to start trainingBoth owners agreed to the change in date. The training contract signed indicates that the contract may be cancelled within days, after which time the payment would be non-refundable.The reasoning behind the starting age for formal training of 15-weeks of age is that a puppy must have a certain level of maturity to not only be able to process what is being asked of him/her, but to also have an appropriate functional attention span, and retention of that trainingIndividual self confidence is also importantThe skill sets started were 1) walking on the leash without pulling2) "Come" from feet away, 3)"Sit"and 4) stopping at the door and at street corners. When basic obedience training began on April 18th, it was noticed by the training staff that all ***'s teeth were still immature, and although his disposition was stellar, his attention span and stamina were lackingHis gums began to bleed while chewing on a toy, prompting a close examination of his mouthMrP*** consulted with DrAdrienne Edwards, a practicing veterinarian, as to actual age of *** at this point in timeShe estimated his current age at the time to be less than weeks of age, as no adult incisors had begun to erupt to date, which was 4/19/2016.On the following day, 4/20/2016, *** *** and MrP*** had a conversation about ***'s age and progressMrP*** explained that the training should be paused, and restarted either 5/or 5/16/(3-weeks later), to enable the puppy to successfully handle and retain the basic obedience skills his program requires, and that we're indicated to be important to the owners*** *** agreed.*** *** contacted MrP*** that same day, stating that she was upset, and wanted a full refund of the payment of $1,299.00, stating that she would rather have his money in her bank account gaining interest, during the interval that training would be "on hold", and would re-pay these funds when the training program resumed(Please note that no cash changed hands, as she paid by credit card, therefore no interest would have been lost during this interval.) MrP*** that refunds were not allowed outside of the day window following enrollment, and that *** would still receive the training program, just at a more appropriate time, when his true age would be conducive to getting the most out of the program, and attaining the goals that had been set forth.MrP*** further requested by email that *** *** send her complaint/refund request in by email, and followed with a phone call to request that she please respond back to his requestTo date 5/23/2016, *** *** has not sent a letter of dispute/refund request in writing to MrP*** was returned to *** *** on 4/20/2106, and at no time did *** *** request a refund, or indicate that *** would not be coming backA space was reserved for *** for 5/9-5/27/2016.This postponement became necessary due to misinformation given on the initial applicationAt no time did MrP*** or his staff deceive or misrepresent our training program to *** *** or *** ***, Academy Dog Training by Haywood has not participated in "unethical practices", as accused by *** *** in her complaint to the Revdex.com and the Credit Card companyIt is my desire to not have my name tarnished, nor that of my business, particularly as these circumstances are out of my control. Please inform me of the next steps that must be taken in the appeal processI may be best reached by email at ***@***.com, or by phone at ***)Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matterSincerely,Haywood *P***, Jr.Academy Dog Training by Haywood
