Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/05/27) */
This customer asked for a rough quote - "within a hundred bucks" - for the repairs, after the problem was diagnosed. He was told it would be 700-800. The actual cost of repairs was $844.49. There was 0.6hr ($87.00) extra to clean up...

some oil at the back of the motor, which was not noticed until everything was apart. The diagnosis of $159.50 was always separate from the repair cost - and he was told when it was dropped off, that it would cost $159.50 to scan it. So, the $844.49 + $87.00 + $159.50, plus shop supplies and GST (which are added at the end) come to the $1,208.88 on the invoice. We always quote diagnostic time separate from the repair costs, plus shop supplies and GST. There is no intention of deceiving anybody, nor have we ever been accused of doing so! Unfortunately, we cannot issue a partial refund, as he was told it would cost $159.50 to diagnose the problem when he dropped off the vehicle, and was also told (within 15%) what the repair would cost - the difference being the $87.00 for the extra time it took to clean and wash the back of the motor.
