This company is a joke and it's the only option in the areaBeen with this company for over yrs and required to put a deposit down after paying the on the 11th mos and on the 17th the next monthThe due date is the 10th of the monthThis company sends a disconnect notice when pymt is one day past dueThe customer service is mediocre at best..Lived all over the US and have never dealt with a worse electric company

This letter is written in answer to complaint submitted to your office from KEC member, [redacted], disputing the need for KEC to collect an additional deposit.
Karnes Electric notified said member that an additional guaranty deposit will be due for the reason that this account is/has been delinquent for the past twelve (12) months. Payments are due on or before the 10th of the month, this account was getting paid around the 25th and later. Due to the high usage (averaging over 4100 kwh per month) it is necessary to collect an additional security deposit.
KEC informed member that the additonal deposit due will be $1,076.00. This is calculated using the highest three months billing in a one-years period. Member called KEC on September 22, 2014 and they agreed to have this deposit deferred into an 18-month pay-off. The first installment was billed with the September billing, due by October 10th.
