Kars Automotive Reviews (%countItem)

May 2019 I had the Owner of Kars Automotive, Kenny, order a Fender for my vehicle and I was going to have my daughters boyfriend (whom worked for the Owner) put it on. I'm not sure why, but he ordered the part unpainted (even though there was a perfectly good one available to pick up from a local junk yard). The product arrived at the shop (within 2 weeks) and the Owner just kept pushing it to the side.

After my daughters boyfriend asked (for the 10th time) to have him get it scheduled to be painted, the Owner said he will get around to it. The part was ordered May 2019 and the fender was still in cardboard in the shop getting thrown around in August 2019. His employee told him that I needed the fender done asap, the Owner replied "I'll just grab some white spray paint and we can get it done now."

I paid for the fender and the service to be performed correctly. Spray paint my car after I paid him over 75% more than what the price of the fender was? He literally was taking my money and running with it.

To ensure the Fender did not get damaged, his employee (at the time) took it home and asked him daily if he had scheduled the paint service or when he planned it. After his employee tried NUMEROUS times to have him complete the job he charged me for I decided to contact him. I was not surprised that my phone calls were never answered and I never received a call back. I reached out MULTIPLE times and he couldn't even call me back to let me know he was going to take my money for doing nothing.

So, I never got my fender fixed and it has made it difficult to sell the car. I bought a new car and the end result is Kenny continues to cost me money. It is now February 2020! I am appalled that he would try to spray paint a part that is going on my car because he didn't want to spend the money are didn't calculate it correctly.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like to have this over and done with. I believe he has cost me hundreds of dollars for dragging this project on for 8 months. I am paying insurance on 2 cars, I have a car payment now for the new one and my old car just sits there because I can't sell it for what I need to without the body work completed. If I can be mailed a check for $150 I will drop the issue. That is MORE than fair for taking my money and not providing a service. Honestly, it is MORE than generous.

Kars Automotive Response • Feb 11, 2020

I am sorry you are just now having issues with any business done at my shop . I do recall Steven asking if I could order a fender for you, which I did at cost . He also stated he would install it outside the business , which he did. So I am confused on how I did you wrong in any way. Steven was let go due to multiple no call no shows, and I tried to work with him as best as I could . So I feel this is some sort of attack towards my business that is completely uncalled for . I am happy to resolve any matter that is within reason , but this is completely unjustified .

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is by no means an attack on your business. I paid for a fender (one that would match my car color) and the fender ordered had primer on it and needed to be painted. It was agreed that when the fender was delivered to your shop you would set-up the paint session.

I did say if a fender that was already painted or a fender from a totaled car was available I would go that route to expedite the service.

The issue is not that it was not put on my car. The problem is the service paid for was not completed (ordering the fender and painting it).

It is unnecessary to discuss who is working for you and who isn't. That is an internal HR issue that has no relevance to the issue that needs to be resolved.

At this point, I would just like the $80 I paid for the fender to be credited back to me. If crediting directly to the card is not possible, the I would request a Bank check to be mailed to me.

The $80 charge was for ordering the part and making sure it matched my vehicle color. Kars Automotive did not receive money for the placement of the part on my vehicle and that is not the issue at hand.
