Review: In November 2012 I contracted with Ms. Tarbox to rent her property at [redacted], D.C. [redacted] which she advertised through a website called [redacted] ([redacted].com ). The rental was for a three day period from July 12 to 15th, 2013. The total cost was $2335.25 and I duly paid 50% of that immediately. The rest of the fee was paid IN ADVANCE on May 24, 2013 by [redacted] at her request. She proved difficult to contact in the run-up to the rental and then, while my family and I were en route to DC on July 12, 2013 Ms. Tarbox called to say that the property had plumbing issues and she would be unable to fulfill the obligation. She agreed to refund my money and we, fortunately, found hotel accommodation instead. Since that date (7/12/13), I have made repeated efforts to recover my money and Ms. Tarbox has on numerous occasions misrepresented that she has or will pay me back, including sending a check which bounced. I note that there are three other complaints registered against this business and I am beginning to believe that I have been the victim of a scam.Desired Settlement: Ms. Tarbox owes me $2,335.25 which I paid plus $12 my bank charged for the worthless check. A proper refund of $2,347.25 by certified check would settle the matter.

I was forced to hire a lawyer which, of course, cost more than the original debt but I also engaged the services of the Attorney General in DC and the Captain of police where Ms. Tarbox apparently resides in CT. I have finally received from her ALMOST all the outstanding debt owed but was sent bizarre [redacted] Moneygrams instead of the certified check requested. I STRONGLY recommend that you note this because there were SEVEN other families duped in the same way by Ms. Tarbox and she is almost certainly operating some scam. Nonetheless, in reference to complaint ID [redacted], I need to further help from Revdex.com.
