Review: We chose a new, locally based accountant this year to support a local business. We had been referred by my husband's employer. We were happy to see a sign over her door which read: 'Honest Accountant.'After a 45 minute wait, she finally saw us for the appointment. We sat with her for close to one hour. In total she worked on our taxes for 3 hours. To our astonishment, and shock we were then charged $780 (after she reduced it by 10% when we complained).Desired Settlement: We believe the national rate for a tax consultant ranges about $300. If we were to to charged for time not even spent on our work (which it seems we were), and overcharge a hugely inflated hourly rate without our knowledge, we deserve a refund. We agree to pay $300 or what would be considered a national-equivalent. We were on time with filing our taxes so there should be no late charges assessed, especially from the accountant. We filed March 28, 2015.
