The other person on my lease has attempted to speak to someone about this. Several times. They dodged it. To tell me that anyone would've told me that is a complete fabrication. That is not even close to what I was told. Ever. What we were told was that we would have to talk to *** *** or to the person that usually handles this sort of thing. Every time the other person on my lease has been there, *** *** has been gone. Every time he called, they didn't get back to him except to say that the person that normally handles this isn't there

My name is [redacted]. I filed complaint ID [redacted] against Katz Property Management of Wisconsin in March of 2015. This is the only response I received from the company: "I will be happy to look into this issue right away."There was no follow up communication, therefor I do not find this to be at all a satisfactory result of my complaint. My file on the Revdex.com website says this dispute has been resolved. I would like to reopen it and discuss next steps. Can you assist me in this matter? All the best, [redacted]

Review: I am reporting my negative experience with Katz corp. office in regards to Hidden Creek Apartments, [redacted]

I applied on Sunday 07/14/2013.

I called the office manager [redacted] to cancel my application 3 hours later, but it was 5 minutes after 5pm and she didn’t answer. Then I called the next morning 07/15 at 8:00 am and explained the reason why I changed my mind. [redacted] demonstrated an understanding of my situation and assured me that it’s OK, she will just rip my check up and I didn’t have to call my bank to cancel it. 7/24/13- 10 days later, I noticed that my check had not been ripped up as [redacted] promised and $2300 was gone from my account!

I immediately called [redacted] and asked her how that happened? She told me that she was losing her costumers and now I have to discuss it with Katz Corp. office…

First of all how was she losing her costumers between 5pm on Sunday and 8am on Monday? She didn’t let me take an application home and think about it over night. She was not suppose to submit my application for an approval anyway without my authorization to deposit my money, and Katz corp. office cashed my check without a signed contract or consent from me. They technically stole my money! After several attempts to speak to Mr. [redacted] (authority in the Corp office)he didn't return my calls that morning, even after 2 urgent messages I left on his mailbox. I personally went to the office, and at 11:15am he was gone already. The women in the office, [redacted], told me the money can be returned but in 2 weeks. I sent them 2 emails explaining how critical this situation was for my finances, because I didn't expect this money to be taken out of my account. I can’t wait 2 weeks for a refund, this is the only money I had in my account until next paycheck. I do not believe I should suffer because of their mistake. I am going through all this distress for a few days already.

Now for those 10 days [redacted], and whomever, including her husband whom walks in and out of her "office" (the dirty smoked dining room in her apartment with alcohol bottles all over) have access to my personal information on the application. Now I am worried about identity theft. I am talking about my privacy and my safety and illegally accessing my money. The following 2 days no one contacted me from Katz office. I need help to resolve this situation and get my money back sooner, please.Desired Settlement: I need to make sure that my personal information wasn't misused by unprofessional, dishonest, dishonorable "office manager" in New Berlin. And what disciplinary actions was taken toward her.

Response:

I got my money back! They sent me a check for full refund $2300. I think they still have to be investigated, therefore I filed complaint to District Attorney’s office anyway before I got my check.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Review: I have asked on numerous occasions about breaking my lease early, only to be told that [redacted] was the only one who could decide that. [redacted] is rarely actually at the business and when he was to be seen today, he decided not to return by the time the office claimed he would be back in.Desired Settlement: I want an answer to my question. It should be an easy question to answer.

Response:

I recently moved to New Berlin Katz property and really frustrated with Katz property.

1> Apartment was not clean lot of issues. Only 1 employee trying to manage our apartment

2> Garage allocated after 15-20 days

3> No intimation how to pay rent. When I paid rent it charge convinience fees $34.00 huge amount. When go to Make Payment option it tells but when try to make payment from home site defauly it take to credit/debit card

4> Katz Property customer center is not polite

I've only lived in this building for about a month, but so far I'm extremely let down by Katz. When I first moved in a noticed two leaks in my ceiling and promptly called maintenance, two phone calls later and nothing has been done. I also have a broken toilet that needs a float valve replaced asap, which I also called maintenance about, they lack any sense of urgency. I shouldn't have to gamble every time I flush the toilet and hold the float valve up so it doesn't flood. Also as I write this it is my second night without power, mind you it's still extremely hot outside. You would think they would have bought an extra fuse by now considering it happened last night and their electrician had the day off. My place is absolutely beautiful and very big for the downtown area but I feel like with the amount I pay I should have much better maintenance and shouldn't be woken up at 2:30 sweating because the power is out and my a/c turned off.

The quality of the apartment was adequate, though certainly not the best I've seen. Somewhat overpriced.
However, the company is some combination of dishonest and incompetent regarding rents and returning security deposits. After moving out I was still automatically charged for rent, and the error was not resolved quickly. Four months after moving out I still haven't received my security deposit, and I have nothing to show for it except the company's word that it was sent. Yeah right. Avoid like the plague.

Their maintenance crew is HORRIBLE. They use cheap materials and band-aide everything a dozen times before ever replacing. There are pipes in the laundry room that have band-aides on top of band-aides. The back door was falling off the hinges and still they wanted to try wood glue or use longer screws instead of replacing what is supposed to be a security door. Plus, if they send someone out they might not be smart enough to find or use the maintenance keys to gain access. Instead you will get calls or notes saying that the work couldn't be completed because they couldn't get in. UGH!

I have repair requests that I put in when I first moved in that still aren't taken care of (10 months later) and on top of that they feel they deserve more money to renew my lease.

I know they own a lot of properties in Milwaukee, but I recommend you avoid all of them because the headaches are not worth the time/money/energy you will waste trying to find someone to maintain the simplest of amenities.

Overall, I am dissatisfied with Katz Properties. And I would not recommending renting through this company.
I am a tenant of the building at [redacted]. My apartment was newly renovated prior to my move in date in June 2015. The floors were replaced, new cabinets and appliances were installed, and the bathroom was renovated, as well. On the day I moved in, the apartment renovations were incomplete. To list some of the problems: there was NO flooring in the closet (only bare foundation), the bathroom cabinets were completely built, the shower did not function properly, my dishwasher didn't turn on, the walls of the apartment were two distinct colors of white (as if it was only half finished) and the apartment still smelled of paint (I later found out it was done the night before I moved in).
I spoke with the building manager and she heard directly from management (James [redacted]) that I would have some of my rent compensated for having to move into an incomplete apartment. For about a month and a half I contacted Katz Office 3 times a week about finishing their renovation of my apartment. It is now October 2015 and my apartment is still not complete. Flooring is missing, my dishwasher is non-functional, and I have received any word about rent compensation.
From my experience, this company is disorganized and the quality of care and work is poor, as they attempt to address the problems of tenants from any of their 15+ apartment buildings.
The rationale behind the 2 stars is because they have fixed some of the issues with my apartment.

Review: I rented an apartment from Katz Property at [redacted] from May of 2013 to May of 2014. On 11/22/2013, [redacted] (the property manager of [redacted] at that time) allowed an exterminator to enter my home to take care of a centipede infestation that had not been addressed by Katz for months, despite frequent complaints, including several photographs. I had nothing to do with the selection and hiring of this exterminator, nor was I aware that he would be in my home the day of 11/22/2013. During that service to my home, the exterminator managed to destroy two pieces of framed art (just the frames and glass, not the actual art). [redacted] contacted me as soon as my property was damaged to inform me that the incident had occurred, to get the frames fixed or replaced and then to provide him with the receipt and Katz would facilitate a full refund for that cost. I bought two new frames (the exact same models from the same store) and provided [redacted] with both a digital and paper copy of the receipt. [redacted] soon after resigned from his position as a Katz property manager for [redacted] and was replaced by [redacted] & [redacted]. [redacted], [redacted], [redacted] and myself all had a conversation about the damage to my property and the refund that needed to occur since [redacted] and [redacted] would now need to take care of it as [redacted] was leaving this position. [redacted] & [redacted] were provided a paper and digital copy of the same receipt and we all agreed about the course of action.

Since that time, [redacted] and [redacted] have been incredibly unresponsive and have not followed through on the promised action. Since moving out of [redacted], I have placed several calls to [redacted] and [redacted] to discuss this issue and get answers as to why I have not been compensated for my damaged property. They would never supply any kind of direct answer, nor would they provide me with a follow up call despite me providing my contact information and clarifying next steps several times.I also have near 50 pieces of email correspondence spanning the last 12 months showing their complete lack of action, information or follow up. These emails include several reminders, multiple copies of the original receipt, and an additional confirmation from [redacted] and [redacted] that I am still, in fact owed this money and that Katz would be facilitating this payment. These emails even included a literal "the check is in the mail" message. That check never came.

On 11/24/14, I informed [redacted] and [redacted] via email that I would be contacting the Revdex.com to settle this issue as an unacceptable amount of time had passed with zero information or resolution. At that point, they assured me that everything was taken care of and that I would be receiving a check in the mail. The check still never arrived at my home.

On 3/9/2015, I received an email from [redacted] and [redacted] indicating they are no longer going to deal with this issue, stating "You can contact the office about the 75 dollars you feel are owed to you.". This is after 16 months of delays, unresponsiveness, false promises and written & verbal confirmation that I am,in fact, owed the full $76.01 (indicated by the receipt of which they have multiple copies) for the damage caused to my property by they're vendor that they allowed into my home. This is beyond unacceptable. I am astounded by this deplorable level of customer service for a tenant of Katz Property. At the absolute very least, I am completely entitled to immediate compensation for my ruined property and an apology for this inexcusable level of customer service.Desired Settlement: I expect to be paid the agreed upon amount of $76.01 to replace the frames that were destroyed by Katz's vendor.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

My name is [redacted]. I filed complaint ID [redacted] against Katz Property Management of Wisconsin in March of 2015. This is the only response I received from the company: "I will be happy to look into this issue right away."

After having several problems with Katz Properties, including but not limited wrong account information being entered and the doors of the building being cracked and broken for months before being fixed, now Katz has called one of us leasees and said that they would give us a 5-day notice if our apartment wasn't cleaner. If I pay you rent, on time, and I keep it as clean as I can after working 40 hours a week and taking the bus everywhere, then you shouldn't threaten me. Also, a 5-day notice would be against the law.
That threat amuses me, as I know how to look up information about landlord tenant law.
I will tell everyone I know never to rent from Katz. I will also tell everyone SPECIFICALLY not to rent in my current building, as the manager is unprofessional and never actually does anything useful. The snow removal is abysmal. The door is constantly broken. The building is not very secure.

The absolute worst. Deceitful, overpriced, unresponsive, unprofessional, slumlords whose behavior I would describe as nearly criminal. They will do absolutely ANYTHING to get your money and they do not care what kind of a pit they make you live in.

We have lived here at this unit for five years at $900 for three years, It was sold to Katz properties rent went up $325 in two years, the only thing they have done was upgrade landscaping 2 years ago.. Places need new windows, also snow removal is horrible, oh and I forgot to mention that he wants us to pay water, with his built in sprinkler system when we do not have water meters, and we pay as much as a family of four... Don't let the deal suck you in it will bite you on the butt

So many things to complain about with this apartment..if you don't feel like reading them all, just take away from this review that moving in to not only JVT, but ANY KATZ PROPERTY is the worst decision you could make.
Here's why:
I was showed this apt. last summer, and at first glance, it was awesome. We were offered $500 off first months rent. Our lease for our previous apartment was up in July, but we signed a June lease ONE WEEK after viewing the apt at JVT to take advantage of the $500 off (you had to sign the lease w/in two weeks of being showed the apt., which was not even communicated to us) This gave us a month to slowly move our stuff in; however, we DID NOT RECEIVE THE $500 OFF BECAUSE WE DID NOT MOVE OUR BELONGINGS IN WITHIN TWO WEEKS. Why this makes sense is beyond me. Katz was getting their security deposit/rent for June.
Miscommunications happen&it usually takes a to bother me. When we moved in, the carpet was incredibly stained and we noticed that some of the trim was not finished; still, no biggie we went out rented a shampooer for the carpet.
The absolute worst thing about this awful company is heat. Winters in Wisconsin are brutal, luckily heat is included in rent, right? Not. I would be warmer living in a cardboard box than in these apartments. You can literally see the blinds blowing from the draft coming through the windows. It is 56 degrees in my apt right now. Every single resident I have spoken with have called and complained to the front office (as have we) and they have been hung up on/ mistreated by the HORRIBLE staff of JVT. They gave out a few space heaters for those that complained first, which is ** because then you end up paying for heat!
A few weeks after living here, we noticed that the plumbing sucked. The shower, garbage disposal, and sinks wouldn't drain. We called maintenance not one or two, but FIVE TIMES. Mind you we snaked each drain before calling. Each time they left a muddy trail all over our newly shampooed carpet, clearly did not take their shoes off or have any kind of respect for our stuff, but they didn't even fix the problem! One guy suggested we poured some Draino down! Finally someone fixed the plumbing (only to have it begin to clog a month later again.)
Katz Properties is the most misleading, cheapest, greediest company I have ever encountered and if I can even prevent a couple of people from renting from any of their locations, that would be great.

I live in a Katz apartment right now. I moved in on August 19, 2014. The only reason I am still living in this apartment is because I can't afford to sublease and move out right now. I am in college 33 hours a week and also work about 27 hours a week. I don't even know where to start. The day I moved in, the manager, [redacted], told me that she'd stop in to pick up my rent for that month in a couple of hours. She never showed up. A few days passed, she never answered her phone or came by. She finally came by when I wasn't there one day and grabbed the money order from where we had agreed to put it so she could pick it up (the day & time she was supposed to pick it up). I'm pretty sure it's illegal to just come into an apartment without letting the tenant know 24 hours in advance. That was the least of my negative experience though. I called her the day I moved in and told her about several problems I had with the place. My blinds were all broken and needed replacing. The water in my shower didn't go down, and there was a huge crack in my toilet seat. She didn't respond to any phone calls or complaints so I decided to contact Katz directly. Finally, after about 1 month, they came and replaced 2 of the blinds. I was happy with that. But they forgot to replace the rest. So I contacted them again. They eventually came and replaced one more blind, but one still needed replacing! It took another month for all the blinds to be fully replaced. The shower drain took about a month to be fixed also. A few days later, it was clogged again. They came yesterday to fix it and left a note saying "fixed the drain the best I could, but the pipes need work." Okay? How do I go about fixing the pipes? That's not my fault. There is cracks in the walls and ceilings. There's spaces between the walls and ceilings also, which cause bugs to get it. There are lots of bugs. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. I am a 20 year old girl living alone in this studio apartment, I don't know how to fix anything. I rely on maintenance to come fix any issues I have. I moved to Milwaukee, not knowing anything about any property companies. Now everyone I talk to says "Oh you rent from Katz? That [redacted] They are terrible." I will never ever EVER rent from them again and never recommend them to ANYONE. I don't feel safe in this building. I am going to contact the DNS in Milwaukee soon if nothing gets done. Katz is ridiculous, something needs to be done!
