On 8/1/we were ordered to tow a [redacted] by our local Police Department for being unregisteredThe vehicle was towed back to our location, at this time we ran a listing through the local police department to obtain owner informationThey provided us with the last registered owner informationSince there were no plates on the vehicle, the VIN came back to the individual who contacted us.We sent certified notice to the last registered owner as per contracted by the Local Police DepartmentAt this time the last registered owner contacted us after receiving the notice that was sent in a very irate tone of voice stating it wasn’t his responsibility to provide us with information on who he sold the vehicle toI tried to explain to him that we would need a copy of the documentation so no further action would be taken, and this is required by the local Police DepartmentAt this time he kept yelling and raising his voice and eventually became belligerentI tried stating to him anyone can call and say they sold the vehicle unless they provide proof, we are required to submit the last registered information to the local Police Department for abandoning the motor vehicle.I feel that this matter could have been handled in a very different manner, if he would have only complied with the information that was being requested.Thank You, [redacted] ***
