KBR Tire Reviews (1)

Review: My car was taken to KBR tire to have 4 new tires put on. While in their care all 4 rims were damaged in the process of tire instalation. There were multiple large scratches on each rim. I informed the company of the issue and they agreed to have the rims looked at. Once a specialist came in he stated that the rims did need to be re painted. KBR then called me and told me I would have to pay $150 to have it fixed or they wouldn't proceed with repairing the rims. I refused to pay the money since they damaged the rims during tire install. I paid for new tires and to receive my car back in the same shape as when I brought it in. I had my car looked at by my local paint and body shop. He stated the scratches were fresh on the rims and had tire markings from where they slid the tire on to the rim. He said it would cost $700 to have the repairs done. I have all the original receipts and statement from the body shop.Desired Settlement: I paid $470 for the tires. I'd like to at least get that amount credited back to my credit card to put toward the repair of my car. I'd like to have it repaired on my own since I do not trust the way that KBR conducts their business.

Dear [redacted]:

In response to your letter, dated July 25, 2013, we feel we went out of the way to satisfy this customer. Circumstances are quite different than his claim.

Customer came in to see if there is any warranty on tires that were on his vehicle. Only one of the four tires was purchased here. He was concerned about dry rot cracks. I confirmed there was dry rot in the tires. But, being 3 of the 4 tires were 6 years old, I told him tire manufacturers only warranty tires for dry rot for 5 years. I recommended the customer call [redacted] Customer Cent, and discuss the issue with them. He did so, and [redacted] agreed to give him a 50% Credit if he purchased new [redacted] tires. He ordered the 4 new tires, and gave me the claim # from [redacted]. On 05/15/2013 we installed the new tires on his vehicle. As per [redacted] Warranty, we charged 1/2 price on tires & mounted & balanced them @ $109.95/tire. On this type of warranty adjustments, KBR does not make any money. This is customer service only.

As to the rims, the customer called back to say that the rims were scratched from the tire installation. I asked him to bring in the vehicle when I was here. Upon doing so, I found scratches were on the face, not in the area where our mounting equipment could not have made any contact. Upon explaining this to the customer, I told him I polish the wheels, as I believed the majority of the scratches would be removed.

After polishing the wheels, I feel the majority of the scratches were removed. In my opinion, for 6 year old wheels, the rims were in excellent condition. The customer was still not satisfied.

The next step I took to satisfy the customer, I had a wheel specialist come in to examine the wheels. He stated, the only way to have the wheels look 100%, would be to refinish the face of the wheel completely. Our cost would be $75.00 each ($300 for the set), and he would guarantee they would look like new. Again, to try to satisfy the customer, we agreed to pay 1/2 of the reconditioning costs, even though we know these 6 year old wheels were not new when they came to us originally. The customer, again refused to pay for anything.

At this point, concerning the whole situation, we feel we've gone out of the way to satisfy this customer as detailed above.

When situations like this occur, we try to handle them in house. Since we've been in business over 30 years, our record with the Revdex.com has been exemplary, and we try to continue that.

Yours truly

Consumer

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: In response to receiving the tires at 50% off. I had contacted [redacted] tire about the faulty product. The reviewed the case and stated I could go to any qualifying [redacted] tire retailer and receive 50% off of the retail price. My tires could have been installed at a number of locations at the same price so there was no favor done by kbr tire on that front.
