K&C Construction

Review: We hired K&C Construction in July of 2013 to remodel our kitchen. This was supposed to be an 8 week project. We finally had to fire them in November 2013. Their was no supervision of subs and the quality of work was terrible. [redacted] and/or his subs did not show up when scheduled, and he did not respond to texts or phone calls. The only time [redacted] showed up as scheduled was when he came to collect a check. We actually had to perform some of the work ourselves, including finishing the installation of our kitchen window, trying to correct flaws in the wall texture, etc. [redacted] did not perform much of the electrical work that we already paid for. He did not install the vent hood, and he did not refund us for a box of tile that was defective, although he promised to either refund the money or replace the box of tile. We had to hire an electrician to finish the work he was supposed to do but did not. I do have further documentation of this if needed. We complained frequently, but the service and quality of work never improved. [redacted]'s last estimate, including some early change orders, was $10,793.47. Work not performed that was mentioned above totals $1554.47. We paid [redacted] a total of $10,000. $10,793.47 minus $$1554.47 for work not performed =$9239 $10,000 minus $9239 =$761 We are seeking a refund of $761 for work not performed. We feel that this is more than fair, considering the excessive time overrun due to the errors of him and his subcontractors; the poor workmanship, supervision, and service; and the fact that we had to even do some of the work ourselves. There is no way to quantify the lack of sleep and stress that we suffered due to this project. We would sincerely like to settle this matter and not have to take it to small claims court.Desired Settlement: Refund of $761 for work that was paid for but not performed.
