It took them about weeks to paint rooms They came in and promised me they would be finished in days First day they came in and they only worked hours, half the time was them smoking cigarettes They came back a few days later and worked only a few hours yet again Didn't come back for a week and the place still looked terrible, worse then before they started Once again didn't come back for a week Now we are almost weeks into a day job and the place still looks bad Finally we said that they need to finish the job, so they come in and finish the job leaving room unfinished, rooms looking terrible and only the master bath looked pretty good, not great but didn't need any work I had to hire a professional to get the job done right They came in and promised me days, they were done in days with the job looking really good I had to waste money on new paint and more money on a new painter after KC Home Renovations took $of mine and didn't do the job

In response to KC Home Renovations letter I would like to first say that I am not sure why he would have been advised not to comment on this claim if he felt so strongly about his position. This claim is far from bogus as he so states.  In fact he is the only contractor that worked at my home that I had a problem with.  I was totally pleased with all the other work that had been done. In fact every other contractor worked clean, neat, efficient and very professional. With regards to the uncompleted work, it was much greater then the closets and trim, it was almost the whole entire house.  We have photos of all of the areas depicting the defects in his work and these were sent to Thumbtack, whom we kept in contact with. Some of the defects were as follows: a)brush marks,  b) different colors (possibly due to adding water, c) overlapping, d) inadequate dry time, e) improper spakling and/or not sanding, f) certain areas not primed where required.  In my opinion and as well as the opinion of others this job was not completed and was not done in a professional manner. To make a statement that I scheduled [redacted] and other contractors to my home to create a mess is a totally a bogus statement and furthermore KC should have been out of this job long before any other contractors came to do work, as the premises was totally empty and working conditions were excellent. It is my opinion that pointing the blame on others is very irresponsible, unprofessional and shows lack of integrity to say the least. I cannot comment on his many years in the construction trade, but certainly this job was not one that I would be proud to show.  With regard to the balance of the money that was owed my father who was assisting due to my long work hours spoke to Ryan at Thumbtack and when asked what was I looking for he made it clear that all we wanted was for KC to complete the job professionally and we wanted to pay him in full as we did all the other contractors.  It was Kenny C[redacted] that elected not to return to the job site to complete the work, in one of my emails I said to Donna in his office " we would like the job that was contracted for to be completed and you will be paid in full". I would think that any professional and responsible contractor with integrity, a good reputation and in good faith would want to complete the job in a responsible manner and I don't believe this was the case on this job. The payment he refers to as measly was $ 1,500.00 which by the way some people have to work very hard to earn in the amount of time or lack there of that was put into this job for labor. He is correct about one thing, he did submit a request for the balance with a deduction, however, there was substantially more work then just a " LITTLE" work and that was which he chose to ignore. Thumbtack should have records of all the emails, phone conversations, photos of KC work as well as photos of the deficiencies the new painter had to correct. I am seeking compensation for labor and materials only and not for many hours of time spent in trying to get this job completed.  I apologize to him for not being a "REAL" client,  but as a businessman I think it was a very inappropriate comment.  If you require any documents from us or from Thumbtack please advise the respective parties.   In closing I would like to thank you for your assistance and cooperation in attempting to close this matter in an amicable manner.

Although I have been advised not to comment on this totally bogus complaint, they say you can't please everyone, and unfortunately this client was never going to be happy.  The only work left unfinished was some closets and trim and it took another painter 3 days to complete that? ...

Well, it was probably because [redacted] changed his mind 3 times and made the contractor redo the work over, as he did us.  Or maybe he scheduled [redacted] and some other contractors to come in to make a mess, and claim we made the mess.  In my 20 years of construction, I have never not completed a job but it was evident at the end that [redacted] had no intention of paying us for the balance of the job, so we did not return.  For the measly payment he did make, he got 10 times the work done. We submitted a bill for the balance of the work done, including a deduction for the LITTLE work not completed, and he completely ignored that.  Now he is seeking money from us?  We have been on Thumbtack for years now, which is a great site for contractors and it has grown my business tremendously.  If you want to see what ALL of other clients our REAL clients, say about our work, feel free.  They have nothing but good things to say, and I think those reviews show that we run a respectable business and we go above and beyond for our clients.
