Review: My family and I live in Rumson, New Jersey and received sever flood damage to our home. We hired KCS Contracting to help rebuild our home after Hurricane Sandy while we rented a small apartment. [redacted] initially gave us one estimate in November 2012 to complete our home, then doubled his estimate to complete the job after he had already demolished the whole house. My husband and I were frantic because we did not agree to a new price, nor did we have money to complete the job. He knew our insurance budget from the beginning and we felt he was price gouging. Perhaps he thought he could bully us into paying more and hold us hostage because our home was already torn apart. When we asked him to justify and itemize the new estimate price, his response was "the numbers are what they are" and suggested "we get other estimates" to complete the job because he could not lower his price. When we found a contractor to complete our home for half the price, we paid for serviced rendered and terminated KCS Contracting immediately. That was when [redacted] starting sending threatening e-mail to my family stating he was going to put a lien on our home for a contractor managerial fee???? He also lied and told us that he had to be reimbursed $3,000.00 for temporary electrical service from JCPL. When we called JCPL to pay the bill directly, JCPL confirmed the service for temporary electric was free. [redacted] also rented a storage trailer so we could store our personal belongings until the house was complete. We called the trailer company to switch the trailer into our name because he was threatening to leave our personal belongings on the lawn. KCS Contracting is trying extort and scam money for services that were never completed or agreed upon. I was concerned about him vandalizing my home (since my I live a half hour away now), so I called the Rumson police to watch our home while it's being rebuilt. I have also contacted my attorney and the Hurricane Sandy Fraud deptDesired Settlement: I want to make sure this predatory contractor does not put a lien on my house for services not rendered. I also want the public know how KCS Contracting and Kevin Staub conduct business and take advantage of hurricane victims.
