3/25/2014Dear [redacted] ***,Thank you for contacting me regarding the complaint that was received On 7/21/by [redacted] [redacted] did contact this office to become a new patient on the date mentionedHe indicated that he wanted to use his health insurance to pay for his care, when asked if he was using insurance or notOut receptionist took his insurance information over the phone to verify benefits, and sent him Instructions to fill out out online new patient intake forms [redacted] was told by our receptionist that his out of pocket cost would be dependent on whether he had a deductible or not; and if he had one, what amount had been metThe next contact we had with this patient was when he presented to the office for careWe received no follow up email requesting any further pricing information[redacted] 's medical history and chief complaints were reviewed by DrKeegan and an examination was performed on the patient based on his clinical presentationHe was treated that day as well [redacted] 's medical benefits were verified during his visitHis plan had a $deductible and he was allowed visits per yearAs with all insurance plans, the deductible amount must be met before the insurance will pay for any careOur receptionist informed him of his coverageThe charges for that day's care was $based on his insurance's allowed amounts for servicesOnce his deductible was met his care would cost approximately $per visitHis lack of understanding of his chosen insurance policy led him to believe that his insurance would cover all costs, Considering most insurance coverage we work with, his deductible was relatively low and his benefits provided coverage for most services we provideUpon receiving his explanation of benefits from his insurance it was determined that his insurance did cover an additional $from that visit, which has been refunded to himI hope this response clarifies the incident for youIf any further information's required Please do not hesitate# to contact us at ###-###-####.Sincerely,Shawn KDC Keegan Chiropractic Sports & Wellness Clinic

I am rejecting this response because:  I called and asked for pricing information and Keegan didn't check with my insurance until after I arrived according to their response email. I also sent them an email, which I did attach, asking for pricing information, which they did not respond to me.
Keegan acknowledges that I called and asked for pricing information and that my insurance information was given over the phone. I sent an email which asked for pricing information, which was attached to my complaint. Keegan did not attempt to contact my insurance company until after I arrived. So they withheld their pricing information from me, until after I showed up. Keegan needs to re read my complaint again, it has nothing to do with my insurance coverage, The dispute is with withholding valuable information from me, which would have prompted me to search other chiropractors in the area. I had this insurance coverage for a long time and I've been visiting chiropractors for over 10 years. So I understand what the average cost per visit is.
 I could and would like to add another complaint along with my original complaint. Keegan never contacted me to issue me a refund. I received a statement from my insurance company. Keegan billed my insurance $275.00, on top of that they charged me $135 for my visit. I have never been to a chiropractor that charges over $400 for a visit. This is totally unacceptable. I called Keegan and they admitted that they owed me a partial refund. But when where they going to call me or issue me a refund? I am still not satisfy with Keegan email and still demanding a refund.

The charges for that day's care was $135.38 based on his insurance's allowed amounts for services. Once his deductible was met his care would cost approximately $13.00 per visit.

Review: I contacted Keegan chiropractic, asking for pricing in their service. I was asked if I wanted to pay cash or with my company insurance. I told the reception lady that my insurance has 12 visits, so I wanted to pay with my insurance. The reception lady told me she would have to call my insurance company. So I gave her my insurance information, so I could get a price estimate. A few minutes later, she sent me instructions to fill out for a first time visitor. I sent her a reply asking her to send me a price estimate after she gets done talking to my insurance company. The reception lady never returned my email before the visit. I showed up for the appointment and no pricing information was available to me before I visited the chiropractor. I was in the chiropractor for no more than 20 minutes and had a routine adjustment, with no x-ray's. Upon check out the reception lady charged me $135.38 for only one 20 minute session. She then explained that my insurance plan, I must meet the deductible first. I told her I was unhappy with this service because I asked her to give me pricing information before we started, which lead me to believe that my insurance company would cover my visit. I'm unhappy that she didn't return my emails and didn't give me an estimate on how much this service was, nor was there any pricing information online. I told her that other chiropractors in the area, that I talked to charged much less for their service. The only difference was most places didn't accept insurance. So since Keegan accepted my insurance, I picked this place believing my insurance would cover all cost. The places that didn't accept my insurance plans were less expensive than Keegan.Desired Settlement: If I was made aware of this pricing information, I would have not chosen this chiropractor. So I believe that a full refund would satisfy my frustration with this overall experience.
