Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
Regardless of his opinions, the facts are that Mr*** is in clear violation of his year warranty.
Furthermore, I'd like the Revdex.com to consider that his is NOT a member of NARI as he claims. I would not rehire this company, and will not recommend them to anyone.
Regards,
*** ***

To whom it may concern:
I understand Mrs***'s frustration with the situation and
was in the process of helping resolve the situation when I was threatened with
legal action. At which point discussions
ended. I stand by my previous
statement. An issue was brought to my
attention. I addressed it quickly. An industry approved solution was
offered. I cannot spray class
flammable products in an occupied home. The
solution was denied twice, thus voiding any warranty on the issue. The technical data sheet from ML Campbell is
a general data sheet sent out to protect the manufacturer, and not an
indictment of my work. My industry
expert will be vouched for by the ML Campbell chemist himself. Mrs***'s assertion that baby wipes were not
used is a lie, as she told me she used them, and it was evident that she had. Further, when I was there, she started to
pick at the finish with her fingernail to show me that the finish was
defective. At this point, I would not be
sure which damage was caused by the excess moisture, or by Mrs***
herself. Finish does not just "fall
off" cabinets. It has to be
neglected and abused first. As to the
crown molding, I have said many times what is happening. Mr*** prepared the space for cabinet
installation, and did a poor job. The
ceiling was not level, nor the floor for that matter. He wouldn't pay me the final amount until I
caulked the joint between the ceiling and the crown, which I had advised
against saying at the time that it would shrink and fail. As I said before, I have no doubt she was
able to find people to say another contractor did a bad job, and overcharge to
fix it
In years of business, I have never had a finish
failure.
Unfortunately I cannot control how people live in their homes. And in this case the wear was excessive, made
worse by Mrs*** herself. I am considering this matter closed, and no other action will be taken

This determination was made by inspection of pictures sent by the client, and upon a personal inspection. At which time the client told me that she uses baby wipes to wipe down the cabinets. Alcohol based baby wipes will definitely degrade a finish. At the time of inspection, it was also found that chunks of wood were missing, obviously due to impact. As for the other areas concerned, a pile of wet shoes by the garage door, obviously from salt and water that were not cleaned up, and below a sink in an island which is also where the wood pieces were missing, and lower left and right of the dishwasher Normally there is more wear and tear at the top of the dishwasher where the steam exits the unit. And all other high traffic areas were unaffected. All the areas where water was left to sit show excessive moisture damage. Clearly the client's negligence is the cause of any finish failure. As for the crown molding supposedly falling down. The client was warned at the time of installation, that the ceiling(which was prepared by her husband) was not level, but that any caulking that would be placed there would shrink and eventually have to be filled again. In fact her husband wouldn't pay the final amount due until I performed this action. I could tell all of this by looking at the pictures, but visited for an on-site inspection anyway. And, knowing the situation, and having consulted with another finishing expert, I showed up with a caulk gun and paint to repair the finish. I cannot apply a class flammable in an occupied house and therefore could not repair the finish to a "new" state. Regardless of the client's fault in the matter, an industry accepted repair was offered anyway, and denied, by the client, both in person and by e-mail. The written confirmation the client has is a response from the finish manufacturer, which does not confirm her position that it failed due to faulty application. However it does state many times that moisture is a factor in this case.
In review, a claim was made and responded to immediately by e-mail, and within weeks in person. An industry accepted repair was offered, and denied by the client, both in person and by e-mail. At this point I consider the matter closed, and at this time any and all warrantys have since expired. I have copies of all correspondence between the client and myself, and a witness to the on-site inspection, if needed

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I reject Mr.[redacted]’s response to complaint [redacted] because it’s not truthful. Moreimportantly  regardlessof Mr. [redacted]’s opinios, he is inviolation of his own 1 year workmanship guarantee noted in the signed contract.  Below are bulletedresponses to his explanation, with factual documentation. ·         Regardless of Mr. [redacted]’s opinion ofnormal wear and tear, he is in violationof his own 1 year workmanship guarantee noted in the signed contract.  Additionally, he himself stated “well thatshouldn’t be happening” in an email dated 5/5/14. Lastly, three unbiased industryexperts, including the finish manufacturer confirmed the finish peeling offfrom our cabinets is the direct result of insufficient application. A certifiedpaint sonogram conducted by the paint manufacturer on 6/2/14 confirms thefinish was not applied sufficiently, resulting in poor adhesion.  (The finish on my cabinets is as low as 1.2dry mils; the paint manufacturer recommends 3-5 dry mils.)  Attached is the official report to verifythis. ·         Therewere no salty, wet shoes by the door as Mr. [redacted] claims, as he visitedour home in the warm month of May. This untruthful statementin itself demonstrates his deceitful behavior.  ·         Mr. [redacted]’s suggested quick-fix repairof is unacceptable & only a temporary solution to mask the chippingpaint.  The resolution suggested by all three unbiased, local cabinet makers (Revdex.comAccredited & A ratings) & the finish manufacturer themselves, is tohave the problem areas sanded down, removed from the home, refinished, thenreinstalled.  $8,000 was the estimatedcost to do this. On 5/14/14 Mr. [redacted] arrived at my home with a gallonof paint & a paint-by-numbers paint brush; this is his suggestedresolution.   ·         The written confirmation I have from thefinish manufacturer DOES confirm thatthe finish was not applied sufficiently by Mr. [redacted], resulting in pooradhesion.  The official report confirmsMr. [redacted]’s application is unacceptable per the manufacturer’s applicationinstructions. In addition to the official report, the finish manufacturerprovided documentation that outlines issues that may occur from low filmapplication such as Mr. [redacted]’s – which includes the poor adhesion thatwe’re experiencing. (See attached technical report from finish manufacturer’sR&D Technologist.)  ·         In addition to the actual report, I provide2 calibration reports to Mr. [redacted] confirming the accuracy of theequipment used to evaluate his finish application.  ·         Baby wipes have never been used on the cabinets, but rather on the hardware (handles) which are nowhere near the problemareas that the finish is peeling off from. (The trim both around the floor andthe ceiling.)   ·         Mr [redacted]’s statement of “all the areaswhere water was left to sit show excessive moisture damage” is untruthful.  The finish is falling off our cabinets invarious places ranging from the ceiling area, trim, base boards & even faceof some cabinets.  ·         There are no missing wood pieces, or chunksmissing from our cabinets.  Again, theproblem is with the finish falling off from the wood.  ·         The “industry expert” Mr. [redacted] isreferring to is his sales rep, who he’s had a longstanding sales relationshipwith therefore quite bias, as there is a financial risk to this gentleman bynot agreeing with Mr. [redacted] opinion(s). Furthermore, the gentleman has never been to my home to see the cabinets& validate any opinion or see any documentation.     Attached documentation includes: [redacted]’ssigned contract including 1 year worksmanship warranty, official report fromfinish manufacturer, technical report from finish manufacturer’s R&DTechnologist, the initial request to rectify letter sent to Mr. [redacted] viacertified mail, pictures of our cabinets 9 months after the completion date inJuly 2013. We’ve given Mr. [redacted] severalopportunities to resolve this, beginning nearly 3 months prior to theexpiration of his written 1 year warranty.  The desired resolution is reimbursement of $8,000 to have his workprofessionally repaired.
Regards,
[redacted]
