to plan for it weeks in advance, what staff is doing what and when. We note the ending time of the first event and the starting time of the next eventRenters are directed to leave the space in the same condition in which they found itMost do, however some do not, and We never know what we will be walking intoFor that reason, we always allow adequate time to prepare for the next eventIf things were left that needed to be cleaned-ex: debris or spills on tables, trash bags to dumpster, vacuuming, stains in carpet, vomit, busted bags, confetti, glittdocument this with pictures, then clean it up and set up for the next event.By the time the next event starts, everything is clean and ready for themWe have never failed at this despite some difficult circumstances at times.On the weekend of May 13"-15", we actually had eventsAfter the Friday event, we came in Saturday morningThat client had done an excellent job cleaning up and we set up the Saturday eventAfter the Saturday event, we came in Sunday morningThey did a fair job cleaning up, but we had to do some vacuuming to get ready for the Sunday eventAfter setting up for the Sunday event, everything was clean and ready to go.When we came in Monday morning, we had to do some work to prepare the room to be used againItwas not left in the same condition that it was when they arrivedThere was some trash that needed tobe taken out, not a tremendous amount, but enough to be noted on our “Event CleChecklist”The real problem was a kind of confettiIt wasn’t like it was a huge amount covering the floor, but it was sprinkled everywhereIt is very difficult to clean up, either with a broom or vacuumAll you can do is to go over the entire room slowly with a vacuum and broom and clean it upIt took about hours to do thisThat is why the contract that every client signs and initials, specifically states no glitter or confetti is allowed.It was stated that the vacuum and the refrigerator were not in working orderThat is not an accurate statementThe refrigerator is only a couple of years old and is in good working orderSometimes the caterers or food preparers overload the refrigerator and block the airflow vents and that will cause a problemThe vacuum worked fine the morning of the event, and the morning after the event.In reference to the security guard, she has worked many of our eventsShe is not authorized to give approval to whether the space is clean or not.Usually under these circumstances when it takes our staff so long to return the space to usable condition, we charge a much higher rateHowever, after reviewing footage from the security cameras, it was felt that one young lady and a few others in particular, made a good faith effort to do some cleaning -although vacuuming was limited to only one areaHence the $charge rather the higher deduction from the damage deposit.
