Keith & Sons Overhead Door, L L C

On October 27, 2010 Keith and Sons installed a pair of ten thousand cycle unit springs for $195, to replace the pair I had, only one of which was broken. The unit they had replaced l

had lasted six years. One spring that they had installed had broken last week, after only two years and three and a half months, causing a terrible amount of hardship in the inclement weather to my disabled husband (who is a veteran), I called the company and one of the owners (there are two brothers who own the company) was rude, said that that could happen and maybe we used the door too much. He never apologized for the broken spring. I said thtat I wanted him to replace the apringss and he said he had to charge us again. I said that he was the owner and didn't have to charge and had an obligation, that, after such a short imte, to rectify his work. His brother then called and offered me replacement of the same springs for $150, which he said was a discount of their now $205 charge. If I wanted heavy duty springs he'd charge $175. The warranty, he said, again, would be a year.

I found another company who charged me $195 for heavy duty springs with a three year warranty. When the new company's installer looked at the springs that Keith overhead had put in, he said they were obsolete springs, and the new company installer put the new springs in a better place than Keith and Company did.

I feel that Keith and Sons installed inferior springs in my garage and had the obligation, after only two years, to replace them for free or refund my money. One owner felt he had no obligation to us at all, and the first co-owener brother, was frankly rude.

Keith and Sons did a shoddy job with shoddy products. The owner of the second company who did install new springs said the springs should have lasted at least five to eight years. when the one Keith co-owner said maybe we opened the door a lot, I DID THE MATIh for ten thousand cycle springs. From the time he installed the springs until the time one broke was 820 days. We wold have had to have opened the garage door 12 times a day, and since in the nice weather we actually have left the car outside overnight, there have been days when we never opened the overhead door, let alone twelve times a day. We also have been gone on trips and not been home to open the garage door.

So, I feel that we are entitled to some sort of monetary rebate, both for their shoddy materials and my husband;s terrible hardship as he had to walk around the yard to get to the garage and fell at one point (he has one leg).
