The details provided by Mr. [redacted] are not entirely accurate. We were not contacted by him when the flex plate cracked after the transmission was rebuilt. covered under our warranty. Upon inspection, we found that the seal was leaking because the transmission case was broken through the area that attaches it to the engine, so there is no way that a seal could hold up under that kind of movement. I have attached a copy of the original invoice which details what we found at that time. I also learned this morning from Mr. [redacted]'s father that the flexplate was also replaced prior to our rebuilding of the transmission because it was broken. This repeated pattern of flexplate failure, bolt breakage & loosening, indicates a problem that seems to point to either an engine out of balance condition or some sort of defect in the engine-to-transmission mating surface of the engine block itself, but we were unable to visually find the source of such a problem in our inspection in Dec. 2015. I will be very willing to work with Mr. [redacted] to get his vehicle back on the road, but I think he will continue to have a repeat of these failures, probably until this engine is replaced, based on what has been happening so far. I did not have any indication from Mr. [redacted] or his father that they felt I was trying to dodge any responsibility in this and regret that he hasn't discussed it further with me. I don't want unhappy customers and I understand his frustration with this and want to see his truck back on the road, but I don't think putting another transmission in his truck is going to solve his root problem, whatever the source of that ultimately is. You will note that my warranty, at the bottom of his invoice, does exclude case breakage, because that is an external factor of a transmission that we cannot control.
