Keller's Contracting Reviews (8)

I George Keller and two of my crew did go out to do some spot pointing on the side of the home as well as some caulking around the windows. We were there...

approximately 2 1/2 hrs. To complete what was outlined in the contract . There were no further issues after that during the summer, we had several major rain storms and no water got inside the home. We were contacted and it was demanded by the customer on two occasions that we be there on a day and time that 1 the weather was too bad 2 had prior obligations. Water started to appear after several snow storms and ice build up, which leads me to believe there is another issue that arose of the winter that is causing some leaking.( the water is not however coming in thru where we did the spot pointing.) But from another issue that arose after we completed what was contractorial obligated we complete. After the customer contacted me and left several voice mails and emails that had threatening tones. I chose not to respond because of those messages. My conclusion would be that there is another issue causing the leak that occurred in the writer after we did the spot pointing, reason being is that nothing leaked in the summer after several rainstorms but it did start in the winter after snow build up and ice.

Hi
Hope this email finds you well. We had a family emergency and are only getting to this now. Confident you'll extend the same consideration as given to the business on timeline to respond.
Contact History:
Last week of December 2013 - Sent message via Keller website asking him to contact us about water damage. No response.
Second week January 2014 - Called George about water damage - left voice mail. No response.
Third week January 2014 - Called George again about water damage - no response.
Fourth week January 2014 - Called George, hung up on. [redacted] recalled immediately, George said he would come out and to contact him for the best time.
First & Second week February 2014 - email chain attached. The email also contains the $675.00 price we paid for this repair.
From late December to now there has not been a good time for George to stop out. We'd still like him to come out so he can see the damage is the same now as before his repair.
I can't imagine anyone not having sympathy for the amount of time and money spent restoring this room only to be faced with having to do it again within 2 months of the last coat of paint. The living room was completed (think new plaster, window trim refinishing (sanding/stain/glossx4) then paint) late October 2013. The first noticeable water damage was seen December 2013.
Thanks for any help you can provide. And also please provide a number where I can send the text video that shows the damage.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
George and his team were at our house no more than 30-40 minutes on the day of the pointing. The only job they were hired to do was fix the area where water was  damaging the wall, ceiling and woodwork. George assured us the only issue was minor pointing. He was paid $675 for less than 45 minutes work. 2.5 hours is laughable. Really now George - did you forget we were there?
The same issue we experienced before their repair is back causing damage to the newly plastered/painted walls and refinished woodwork. I can post photos of our before, during and after online which could damage his reputation. We chose to take a civil approach but as mentioned to George, and I guess he views going to court a threat, the courts are where this will end up. I don't view that as a waste of time as it beats the runaround.
We left several email and phone messages for George - either no reply or appointment not kept. He was supposed to be at our home 3x now, he did not come or call. All we've asked him to do is stop by to review the damage caused by the lack of repair. He's unwilling to examine his own work since late December 2013. I don't see how he can speculate on anything since he hasn't been at our home since the initial repair.
Since this repair did not hold - we expect a refund of $675.00. It's a small contribution given the amount of money already expended (and will have to be paid out again) on plaster, paint, refinishing woodwork and now stonework on the fireplace. We relied on this repair curing the water issue and finished the room (took months!) only to find this repair did not work. The only repair Keller's was hired to cure is causing damage to our home.
Regards,
[redacted] [redacted]

Review: We contacted George K[redacted] of Keller Contracting at the end of July 2015. We had a small roof leak that was leaking into our bedroom and causing damage to the ceiling. George K[redacted] came over a day after the call was made and inspected the roof with a team of 3 people. He determined the cause of the leak was 1 missing shingle and issues with nails coming up from the shingles around it. Keller and his team fixed the shingle and nailed in many others on the roof.

The repairs lasted for approximately 2 months until the beginning of October when we discovered that the leak occurred in the same location, worse than before. We also had 1 additional new leak in the roof. We called Keller back and he showed up the next morning. Keller arrived with a team of 6 people. He and his team went on the roof and tarred much of it and said the water was coming in through a nail hole. He was on site for approximately 20 minutes before saying that all leaks were taken care of. He assured us that we would not have any leaks during the next rain and he had made our roof (in particular that spot) water proof. While he could not guarantee more leaks would happen in the next couple of years, he assured us of this one.

That night it rained again and the roof leaked in the same place that Keller claimed he had fixed. The supposive repairs did nothing.

Between my boyfriend and I, we called Keller 5-6 times over the next couple of days but he did not answer our calls nor return our messages (before this event he always returned calls). He did not take any sort of responsibility. His $200 patch job that he claimed was sufficient did not last 12 hours.Desired Settlement: We would like Keller to call us back and acknowledge that the repair did not hold. We would like Keller to refund part if not all that he charged for the most recent roof repair because it lasted less than 12 hours and essentially did nothing when he guaranteed it would be fine.

Review: I hired [redacted]'s Contracting in May to repair a leak in my roof. [redacted] and an associate came to my house, went up on the roof and told me they'd identified the source of the leak. They charged me $250 to repair it and after about an hour, they told me the repair was complete. The next time it rained, I had the exact same problem as I had experienced previously. I had a puddle of water on my floor directly under the crack in my plaster above which they had supposedly repaired my roof. I called [redacted] to come back and take a look and he said he'd come out the following Monday. I left work early to make sure I was home at the right time and after giving him a 2 hour grace period, finally gave up. I called him again, left a few voicemails and was eventually told that his phone had broken or been lost or something, so he hadn't been able to show up or call. I gave him another opportunity to come out to the house which he also missed. Over the next week or so, I called a number of times and left a number of voicemails because it now seemed as if I had been ripped off. About a week later, [redacted] finally picked up and clearly recognized my number. He claimed that his phone had broken or been lost a SECOND time and that he "didn't need to deal with my bt." He promised to send a refund, which I have never seen.Desired Settlement: I'm disappointed in the quality of the service I received, especially because this company seemed to have good ratings. I'm not sure what's going on but in light of the fact that they did not actually complete the repair or come out to reassess the issue, I need my money back ($250) and believe that their Revdex.com rating should be lowered even further.

I hired Keller's Contracting in January 2015 to perform a major bathroom renovation. The owner is a skilled craftsman, and good-hearted in my experience, but a poor project manager who did not budget his time or select his help well. I would not recommend this company, chiefly for those reasons. The bathroom was not operable until November 2015 - far too long. I gave the owner every possible benefit of the doubt and honored all of my obligations as a customer.
The good - I choose high end materials and fixtures. The bad - the installation work and finishing details by the company were below average to poor. For example, the floor is not close to level. The glass block shower was not properly sealed and leaks. The sink is not level. The jacuzzi tub was scratched during install. The tin ceiling was poorly installed. The painting was uneven and I have to finish it myself.
I wish the owner would have done all of the work himself and not overbooked his jobs. It would have been more profitable for him, and a better end result for me, than paying several unskilled / inexperienced hired hands.
The owner did express willingness to remedy some problems, but has not yet finished making it right. The shower, specifically, is still unusable. I also hired this company, concurrently, to scrape and repaint my front porch in October 2015 - my wish was to have a fresh coat of paint to protect it over the winter. It is April 2016 and the porch is still not painted. They did scrape it, however, leaving it the opposite of protected during the snow.
I would give this company a second chance - but only if it finishes all work properly for gratis.

Review: Early May 2015 I had contacted George K[redacted] to give an estimate on my bathroom... he wrote out a contract stating that the work would be done within 4 day's, but would never let us see it or sign it. He had kept reminding my fiancé and I that he was a great contactor and to trust him. We had purchased all of our supplies ourselves on our lowes card, that I have all receipts of, to prove we had purchased everything... he only needed to bring his tools to get the job done. about a week into working on the bathroom George k[redacted] only gutted it out and left us without a bathtub for about 4 day's. he had made a wall since he knocked the original down but made it very crooked. when he installed our bathtub he did not connect the pipe the water drain out of and we had water damage all through the basement... I have pictures and video's to prove. he would only come out to the house on his own time and would stay for about an hour, mostly sitting outside of the house smoking and taking selfies of himself... which he had uploaded onto his on facebook page that day with my house in the background. we also have screenshots of him harassing us through text messages... we will gladly provide evidence. George k[redacted] did not even come close to finishing our bathroom nor do we want him back to try to finish the job. we have pictures to prove the way he had left it... and now we have to fix all of his mistakes... everything is uneven!!!!Desired Settlement: refund of all the money we have paid him!

Review: July 25, 2013 George Keller Contracting was hired to cure an exterior leak that was damaging the interior plaster on the wall and ceiling. He charged $675 for 30-40 minutes pointing work on the side of our brick home. He left stating the water issue was fixed.Within 2 months of Keller fixing the leak we had the wall & ceiling re-plastered, painted & the wood mantle and window trim refinished. January 2014 we saw obvious water spots and blistering on the living room ceiling and exterior wall - the same location Keller's Contracting fixed a few months earlier. Tried to contact George via his website under 'contact us' but no reply. Called George Keller January 2014 he denied not fixing the leak - I offered to text him photo's. George said he would call then stop out to look at the damage. It's been weeks and no one is returning our calls or responding in any capacity. The new plaster is now blistered, water stained & is falling off the walls and ceiling. The woodwork and paint finish is already marred with fresh water damage. The leak he was paid to fix still needs to be fixed.Desired Settlement: We don't trust Keller will show up or call when he says he will. Although we prefer the leak actually be fixed a refund would probably be the best outcome so we can start all over again.
