Revdex.com [redacted] 5/20/2015Response to ID# [redacted] First, I would like to thank the Revdex.com for the policy of hearing both sides. The stone veneer on the lower half of the house mentioned in the complaint has spider cracks and tearingThe cause is due to the sub straight, where an old garage door opening existed, footers and slabs rising and sinking during freeze/thaw cyclesThese freeze/thaw cycles are also the cause of the approximately sq ft of stone that is popping offThese cycles are beyond our control. The customer and I had a conversation about what could be done when this condition first appearedI advised him that vertical joints could be cut from top to bottom and filled with dark silicone to create several control jointsThis would mean that when cracks and tears develop, they would break on the jointsMy opinion was that the joints would draw your attention more than the spider cracksThere remained two precast stones, made of light weight gypsum, left broken and we agreed to replace them. The concrete garage apron, newly poured, is rising during the freeze/thaw cyclesThis is the 7sqftarea that the veneer has popped offWe reinstalled it one inch above the slab this timeMy employee reused the undamaged stone and some stone that was leftover from the original crate from the [redacted] order. My employee reported to me that the customer stood over his shoulder being hyper-vigilantHe complained that a stone was crooked, that a stone was dirty etcHe caused quite a bit of anxiety for my employee and extended the labor time by at least hoursAt the end of the repair the customer said that the result was satisfactory.I haven't heard from the customer and assumed that they were satisfiedI was unaware that there was moss on the stone veneerThis can be done with a simple cleaning solution using muriatic acid and a soft brass wire brushOf course we would be willing to clean the portion of stone replaced.I am unwilling to refund the customer any moneyI am willing to try once more to address any reasonable complaint. This customer still owes a $bill for a repair made to his ceiling and beamsIf he would want to apply that to having a different contractor's repair of the sqftof which he is unsatisfied, that is acceptable to me ($per sqftof stone for sq ftthat needs addressed)I am saddened by the deterioration of the relationship between him and IValued customers are hard to come by.Thank You [redacted] ***

is due to the sub straight, where an old garage door opening existed, footers and slabs rising and sinking during freeze/thaw cycles. These freeze/thaw cycles are also the cause of the approximately 7 sq ft of stone that is popping off. These cycles are beyond our control. The customer and I had a conversation about what could be done when this condition first appeared. I advised him that vertical joints could be cut from top to bottom and filled with dark silicone to create several control joints. This would mean that when cracks and tears develop, they would break on the joints. My opinion was that the joints would draw your attention more than the spider cracks. There remained two precast stones, made of light weight gypsum, left broken and we agreed to replace them. The concrete garage apron, newly poured, is rising during the freeze/thaw cycles. This is the 7sq. ft. area that the veneer has popped off. We reinstalled it one inch above the slab this time. My employee reused the undamaged stone and some stone that was leftover from the original crate from the [redacted] order. My employee reported to me that the customer stood over his shoulder being hyper-vigilant. He complained that a stone was crooked, that a stone was dirty etc. He caused quite a bit of anxiety for my employee and extended the labor time by at least 4 hours. At the end of the repair the customer said that the result was satisfactory.I haven't heard from the customer and assumed that they were satisfied. I was unaware that there was moss on the stone veneer. This can be done with a simple cleaning solution using muriatic acid and a soft brass wire brush. Of course we would be willing to clean the portion of stone replaced.I am unwilling to refund the customer any money. I am willing to try once more to address any reasonable complaint. This customer still owes a $375.00 bill for a repair made to his ceiling and beams. If he would want to apply that to having a different contractor's repair of the 7 sq. ft. of which he is unsatisfied, that is acceptable to me ($30.00 per sq. ft. of stone for 7 sq ft. that needs addressed)I am saddened by the deterioration of the relationship between him and I. Valued customers are hard to come by.Thank You [redacted]

Review: Stone veneer installation resulted in several cracks that are widening. Contractor notified and was told that given the long span, he should have Installed expansion joints. Contractor returned and mortar was added to the cracks in an attempt to hide them. As cracks widened, mortar fell out. Recently all correspondence about cracks have been ignored.

Also had a section where the stone veneer has popped off twice. Contractor returned both times with the last attempt to fix resulting in contractor using used, old scrap veneer that actually has mold or moss growth. Employee never cleaned old mortar from wall or back of used, scrap veneer. Not sure if this will fall off again. In addition, because old, improper pieces were used, the seams, lines and spacing all incorrect. Just looks awful. Pictures can be provided of all complaints.Desired Settlement: Refund of outside stone work, approximately 7,800. Or contractor pay for qualified, experienced stone professional to make all stress crack repairs and replace area that continues to fall off with new, proper stone veneer.
