[redacted] brought [redacted], her 10 year old [redacted], and her 3 other dogs; [redacted], a [redacted]; **, a [redacted]; and [redacted], her new [redacted] puppy that didn't board with us last year to stay at Kennelodge from May...

30th-June 9th, 10 nights. She wanted [redacted] and [redacted] together in 1 kennel, and ** and [redacted] in 2 more separate kennels using 3 kennels total. The same way she boarded [redacted], and ** last year. Upon arrival, [redacted] had diarrhea all over herself. and the blanket she was on during the ride to the Kennelodge. We rinsed off [redacted] first thing and put her blanket in the wash. [redacted] stated it must be her nerves, but did not say anything about [redacted] just being sick at the Veterinary Clinic. We board old dogs, just not sick ones. When [redacted] walked in she was side stepping with her back arched up we didn't know if it was from her toe nails that were so long they curved wider her paws or if she was having pain in her back.
[redacted] did leave a joint supplement for us to give [redacted] twice a day and a capsule to give to [redacted] daily. On Friday morning, June 6th [redacted] could not stand on her hind legs. She had messed on herself so we cleaned her up and called [redacted]. She told us that [redacted] had done this before and was down for weeks at a time, and to use a towel wider her belly as a sling to help her get in and out of the kennel, Since it was the weekend and the [redacted] were due to pick up Monday we did what she suggested. [redacted], owner of Kennelodge went and bought a special bed for [redacted] to stay on during the rest of her stay to make her as comfortable as possible. The receipt for the bedding is attached. [redacted] was rinsed off 2-3 times a day. [redacted] sat with her front legs straight up in front of her with her hip bones directly under her, we think to relieve back pain. [redacted] called June 9th to let us know she was on her way to pick up . her dogs. We rinsed [redacted] off again the same way we had been doing. She was not covered in urine or feces when she left Kennelodge.
[redacted] owed Kennelodge $570.00 for the kennel space requested and the medication administration fee. [redacted] refused to pay saying she was told it would be $40.00 a night. We explained that the price was if all dogs stayed together in 1 kennel and medication wasn't given. [redacted] knew our pricing at KennelOdge because she paid it last year and our prices have not changed since opening several. yearS ago. Sh.e then threw a fit and started acting up in front of other customers, so we settled for $400.00. She gave us $100.00 in cash and wrote a check for $300.00, When helping [redacted] to [redacted]'s automobile is when we noticed a start of pressure sores on her hip bones. [redacted] then demanded all her money back we told her to take [redacted] to the Vet and we'would work it out from there.
We met the [redacted]'s at the Veterinary Clinic, where she immediately informed us that she canceled the check for $300.00, that this was all over [redacted] and that she was going to contact [redacted] and made the threat that we should lose our business. At that point we were in shock. [redacted], owner of1Z.ennelodge still asked the [redacted] what we could do to make things right. They replied "we want you and your employees to lie in '[redacted] and [redacted]' until your [redacted] rots off'. That's when we left the room and tried not to have any more contact with them,
Our hearts go out to [redacted] and we hope she is better; however, we did not cause [redacted] hip problems, and were not informed that she hadi been sick previously, which is now clear. We wish things would have worked out differently. We feel the $470.00 she owes Kennelodge for boarding her 4 large dogs for 10 nights is sufficient for whatever complaints the [redacted] currently have, especially after finding out that [redacted] has had a history of being down in her hips and a high white blood count that can spike a temperature, prior to boarding at Kennelodge, Again, when [redacted] arrived at our facility, she was covered in feces due to having diarrhea in the car ride to Kennelodge.
With years of being in business and boarding hundreds of animals, we have never experienced anything like this with any of our customers, and we are sad that this happened. We welcome visitors to our facility and take pride that anyone can walk through at any time, and see that it is clean, safe, and that the animals are cared for.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
The letter I reviewed did not include an offer.
This response is full of lies.  The evidence that I have, from pictures, to documents from the Vet, including statements made by Kennelodge owners, [redacted] and [redacted], in front of many witnesses at the Vet's office contradict 90% of their response.
I find it unbelievable that according to their response she was so very sick when I dropped her off on 5/30, yet they do not even purchase a bed or call me until 6/6, 3 days before I picked her up.  In that phone call, [redacted], assured me they were taking good care of her and did not need for me to arrange transportation to the Vet office, which I was more than willing to do.  I have phone records of the attempts to call them and check on her after that phone call.
I am not sure how they have her WBC count from before I took her there, because she had not been to the vet  since the end of Feb.  In their response, they talk about [redacted] past medical history prior to her lodging at Kennelodge.  That is confidential information they do not have access to.  [redacted] does not have a history of an elevated WBC.  She also does not have a chronic history of being "down in her hips" as stated, the only time she had issues with her Back. not hips, other than being old, was when she was hospitalized and very sick with Bloat and GDV and she was kept in a small kennel for her protection and could not be exercised.  This occurred on 12/22/13 and she had been walking independently since early Jan.  At her Feb annual appt Her Vet said she was stronger and healthier than before her bloat.
They stated that she "sat with her front legs straight up in front of her with her hip bones directly under her, we think to relieve back pain" which infuriates me.  This is the sign of a stressed dog or a dog in pain yes, I was NEVER told of either of these circumstances, and if I had been I would have arranged for her vet to come and get her right away!!!  I checked before I left town and was reassure she was settled and doing well, this description is not settled and doing well.  I left [redacted] there in their care, as caretaker.  Their responsibility was not just to "make her as comfortable as possible" but to see to her well being  up to and including transporting her to the Vet or at least telling me that  she needed care that they could not provide, as evidenced by the condition she was in when I picked her up.  I was assured by [redacted] over a year ago when I toured their facility, that they would transport or at least notify me in the slightest change in one of my animals condition, I was told they would transport any of my dogs to either a Portsmouth Vet or to my vet and was assured these were their normal operating procedures for any lodged animal and even told me a story about a dog that had seizures.
Lastly, as far as Kennelodge, asking how they could make it right, [redacted] asked us this question early on, and  I just asked for a full refund and reimbursement for [redacted] Vet bills.  They never responded to that request, and never even apologized for this terrible situation.
Publishing this matter, for all to see, is all that can really be done. In hopes that others will not make the same mistake we did, in trusting Kennelodge with our pets.   This will have to be settled through other avenues.
Regards,
[redacted]
