Review: While going through an injury lawsuit, I obtained an attorney. Halfway between my case, a new attorney began to handle my case although because it was through no fault of mine he honored my previous contract of 33 1/3% of pain and suffering only. After 2 years my case went to mediation and in order to expedite my case my attorney, [redacted] advised that in order for me to get more, he would reduce my medical bills and I would receive the reduction. Instead, not only did he not give me any additional money for 3 reductions, he also subtracted the 33 1/3% from one reduction, and one payment he didn't even bother to pay which started at a cost of $3000 and now has ballooned to over $8000.00. On the day of settlement I specifically asked how he was able to justify subtracting the fee from a medical payment, in which his response was that it was a courtesy and that he didn't have to. In the contract, it does not address courtesies subjected to his fee. In addition, he charged a "advance fee" when I have supporting documentation, that he did not advance on my behalf, in fact, a letter dated after my settlement states that the law office recognized the medical office in question only received half of their payment and not the whole payment that I was charged for. I have filed a complaint with the Louisiana Disciplinary Board last October, recently I have filed a complaint through the Attorney Generals office. It has been over a year and this lawyer breached his own contract and for over a year has owed me over $10,000. Who helps the consumer filing a lawsuit against an attorney?? All I want is the monies owed. I have the supporting documentation and even still this attorney feels that since he and his previous office manager are in a dispute he is exempt from paying me, his client, what is rightfully mine.Desired Settlement: I am requesting the $10,993.75 he owes me for the medical deduction that per my contract was not to be subjected to the 33% and I am also requesting the $8723.54 I am now being billed from Peak Performance due to his negligence of nonpayment. In total, I am seeking $19,717.29 of the amount I am owed. In addition, I am seeking that his response have nothing to do with the case between his former office manager and him, I only want to deal with what I am owed from him.
