I have had a membership at Massage Envy since 5/Around 3/2016, I asked when my membership would endI was told 5/I returned in June and asked how many sessions I had left over from my membershipI did the same in AugustAt no point did anyone mention that after the year contract is up, it is put on auto-renewToday I got a call saying my credit card didn't go through (it expired)I told them that I did not want a membership and they said that if I didn't pay for September (a session which I have not used, nor do I want), they would send me to a collection agencyI was also told that in order to cancel, I have to go into the original Massage Envy, where I signed up last year, which is minutes away I understand that this was in the contractHowever, in the dealings I've had with the company in the past several months, not once did they mention anything about auto-renewing the contractIt was my fault that I didn't read the contract thoroughly enough to understand this, but I expect that when I enquire about my membership, saying that I plan not to renew, the company will be up front about the steps to cancellation, especially if they are more complicated than simply not renewing

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolvedRegards,

I have had a membership at Massage Envy since 5/2015. Around 3/2016, I asked when my membership would end. I was told 5/2016. I returned in June and asked how many sessions I had left over from my membership. I did the same in August. At no point did anyone mention that after the year contract is up, it is put on auto-renew. Today I got a call saying my credit card didn't go through (it expired). I told them that I did not want a membership and they said that if I didn't pay for September (a session which I have not used, nor do I want), they would send me to a collection agency. I was also told that in order to cancel, I have to go into the original Massage Envy, where I signed up last year, which is 30 minutes away.
I understand that this was in the contract. However, in the dealings I've had with the company in the past several months, not once did they mention anything about auto-renewing the contract. It was my fault that I didn't read the contract thoroughly enough to understand this, but I expect that when I enquire about my membership, saying that I plan not to renew, the company will be up front about the steps to cancellation, especially if they are more complicated than simply not renewing.

Per his request, Mr. [redacted]'s membership has been canceled effective today - February 16, 2015 and his member massages forfeited. He was made aware of...

this via telephone today as well. His response was, "Great, thank you, goodbye".
