Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:The appearance of leaks is not a measure of correct installation Attached are the installation instructions Deviation from these instructions is the basis for improper installation Please refer to page one where it states that fasteners must be placed 1/infrom the bottom edge of the shingle penetrating through the common bond in a standard fastening pattern Then refer to the attached photograph of a representative shingle from my roof noting the fastener holes Next, refer to page two where it states that the starter course should overhang eave and rake edges 1/- 3/inThen refer to the photograph showing a representative sample of the shingles not extending to the drip edge and the resultant water damage Also, on page two refer to the shingle application pattern stating that joints should be no closer than inches from one another and to the photograph showing multiple courses with aligned joints There are additional installation errors, including but not limited to misapplication of underlayment and omission of starter courses. While I may not have had noticeable leaks, the application errors have contributed to the eave, rake and soffit water damage Until the roof is replaced, it will not be possible to determine if there is water damage to the decking I am not asking for a new roof at no cost I am , however, asking to be compensated for the above defects in workmanship that were no evident until this recent storm Regards, [redacted] P.S I regret that this forum does not allow posting of additional attachments

Good Afternoon, After reviewing the complaint and going over years of records are findings are the following: The Shingles were properly installed, this roof has been on for years and withstood many rain hail and wind stormsThe shingles are made to withstand up to mile per hour
winds (see attachment) directly sent from Tamko, the shingle manufacturerThe wind storm that happened on June 23, had 85-mph wind that lasted quite some timeIf the roof had Not been properly installed Mr*** would have experienced many leaks in his roof over the past yearsNo Leaks have been reported to *** *** Roofing. *** *** did replace a small patch of shingles in due to them being blown upThat problem was resolved inSince then we have been back two times to replace vents due to squirrels chewing on them in 2012. The representative from *** *** Roofing accessed the roof and determined the roof did appear to have enough damage and it would be in the best interest of Mr *** to contact his homeowners insurance and start with filing a claimAt no point did our rep state that the roof had been installed improperly. We feel we have taken care of Mr ***s needs over the past yearsAnd at this point we cannot install an new roof at no cost to Mr ***

I am rejecting this response because:The appearance of leaks is not a measure of correct installation.  Attached are the installation instructions.  Deviation from these instructions is the basis for improper installation.  Please refer to page one where it states that fasteners must be placed 5 1/2 in. from the bottom edge of the shingle penetrating through the common bond in a standard fastening pattern.  Then refer to the attached photograph of a representative shingle from my roof noting the fastener holes.  Next, refer to page two where it states that the starter course should overhang eave and rake edges 1/4 - 3/8 in. Then refer to the photograph showing a representative sample of the shingles not extending to the drip edge and the resultant water damage.  Also, on page two refer to the shingle application pattern stating that joints should be no closer than 4 inches from one another and to the photograph showing multiple courses with aligned joints.  There are additional installation errors, including but not limited to misapplication of underlayment and omission of starter courses. While I may not have had noticeable leaks, the application errors have contributed to the eave, rake and soffit water damage.  Until the roof is replaced, it will not be possible to determine if there is water damage to the decking.  I am not asking for a new roof at no cost.  I am , however, asking to be compensated for the above defects in workmanship that were no evident until this recent storm.
