Review: I brought my car to this shop because I was afraid it would not make it to [redacted] to the [redacted] so that I could finish the tune up. I provided the shop with three spark plugs and plug wires. Upon completion of the tune up I found the car running in even worse condition than before. It was shaking and was obviously having more issues. The business [redacted] offered to scan the car and informed me it was an issue with the first cylinder and because it had just had the plug replaced it needed a new coil. Instead of leaving it there to be fixed I replaced the coil myself. After replacing the coil it was still running the same. After barely making it to where we were living at the time I called someone out to look at the car. The next day we found that the boot from the first plug was not seated at all. Upon removing it I found that the plug itself was not seated properly either and had been cross threaded. The plug was reseated and the wire fixed and the car stopped shaking. We then checked the other two plugs that the shop was supposed to fix and found that the number five plug was not replaced at all. My wife spoke to the shop and they said they often have issues with one of the mechanics cross threading or dropping plugs. We were informed that a mechanic would be out to look at the car. The shop [redacted] called my wife and was very disrespectful. I then spoke to her and she was disrespectful to me and the shop owner spoke to me and was disrespectful and threatened me. The quality of service I received was very poor. The customer service was even worse. This car was our only vehicle and we are still not driving it. We paid almost $200 for a service only to have one of three plugs and wires properly installed.Desired Settlement: After speaking with the owner and his wife I no longer want to deal with this business. I would like a refund for the service that was not performed appropriately.

Response:

Attached you will find the original copy of the invoice we charged the customer it was $133.00NOT $183.00. Customer REFUSED all diagnostics on his vehicle that was running roughbefore he requested the tune up. He was informed that without doing a diagnostic and justdoing the tune up may not cure his problem he still refused any type of diagnostic which isstated on the invoice. We did the job per customer request. I believe this individual is doingsome sort of scam so my advice to other shops is be careful of this individual. Thank You!!

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

I accept that the amount in question was $133. I apologize for the discrepancy I have a copy of the receipt but it is with the car sitting at a shop in [redacted]. The wife whom I mentioned before offered to diagnose the car for free and put the reader on it and told me it was a bad coil and they could replace it. I chose not to and replaced it myself. After taking it to a real shop they diagnosed it with a faulty ECM which was making the car die, not shake, as it was doing when I left the shop.

I would like to respond to the accusation of being a scam artist I am a decorated [redacted]. I served three tours of duty overseas with two of those deployments being with a [redacted]. I was medically retired in February 2016. At the time I brought my car to be fixed I had been medically retired for just over two weeks and our only other vehicle was wrecked with my wife and son in the car. I honestly couldn't afford the repairs. Our family was homeless. I went to this business and asked for very simple services to be done because I could no longer be in the rain and outside trying to do the repairs myself and my family was preparing to travel to [redacted] for specialty care and we had to obtain a rental car to do so. I put my faith in this business to do the job I paid for, replace three of six spark plugs and wires which I stated before only 1 of the 3 was properly done The #1 plug was not seated and was cross threaded and the #5 was not replaced at all. The wire was not even attached to the plug on the #1.

At this point I would like the community to know what this shop has done to a family that has ties to this community. A family which has made sacrifices for this country. They did a poor job and when my wife went to speak to them they promised to come and at least look at the vehicle. When I was contacted much later than they said I would they lied, threatened and yelled at both myself and my wife. They should be ashamed of themselves. They should honor their work and they don't. They should honor commitments made by their employees. The same employees that admitted that issues like this often happen at this shop due to a mechanic who is poorly trained and lack of proper equipment (magnetic plug sockets).
