I paid 26,000 for a platinum overhaul, which is considered the top of the line engine rebuild. This repair took almost one month to complete at Kenworth Sales in Elko. This particular overhaul comes with a three year warranty. I then purchased an additional one year on top of the three year making it four years of warranty. Within 3 months of service my commercial vehicle was back in the shop at Blanchard Cat in West Columbia, SC. I was told by Blanchard that my rebuild was done improperly by Kenworth Sales and that they charged me for things that where not even part of my repair.
The fact is that the customer declined to have the repair in question done at the time of his overhaul for financial reasons. The camshaft was still within Cat reuse guidelines at the time. There will be nothing more forthcoming............
I don't know what repair they are saying was in question. I brought my vehicle in for repair, they told me the issue, and that a rebuild would be the best option. I was told that the Platinum OPT Rebuild was the top of the line rebuild. If everything was in spec at the time of repair, why was the vehicle down within 3 months of engine rebuild for the same issue as before the first repair at Kenworth Sales in Elko, NV. The amount of downtime has caused great anxiety and severe debt. I depended on Kenworth sales to do what they promised. They told me that this rebuild will be like having a new engine. I should not be going through engine problems within 3 months of rebuild.
