Kerrigan Paving and Tar & Chip, Inc Reviews (15)

We have responded to this complaint and agreed to seal coat driveway weather permitting week of October 20

Simply outstanding job of approx. 3000 sq. feet asphalt overcoat, including much edge work against landscape timbers, concrete, etc. The crew was great. I am hard to please but I was very pleased. Would recommend Kerrigan to anyone needing asphalt work.

This is the worst company to do business with. They lie and are late. They charge you upfront and do not complete the job. They always seem to come up with excuses with the problems that they have. They do not care about customers.
NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. May as well bury the money in the asphalt that they won't do.
They are also scammers.. be wary when you get their spam.
Thanks

I called Kerrigan to come and give me an estimate to seal my driveway. When I spoke to the girl on the phone she told me Jim would call me back. I never did hear from Jim, yet a John showed up at my door unannounced. He gave me a quote of $450. Not writing any information down which I thought was odd and just to blurt out a price off the top of his head. I made an appointment for them to come out on a Tues. at 11:00. I waited until 11:30 to tell them no one had shown. Again, the girl told me Jim would call me right back. An hour and a half later I still had not heard from this Jim. So I ended up canceling my appointment. If they do business like this, I can imagine what my driveway would have looked if I let them proceed with the sealing. I had to listen to my gut feeling.

I don't understand the previous reviews. Our experience was outstanding. We are 110% satisfied. We wanted our gravel driveway resurfaced and a small section added on. Having had asphalt and concrete in the past, we were not anxious to go with those surfaces again. A bit reluctantly, we decided to try tar and chip. And we are thrilled with the outcome.
They spend time with the client, listen to questions and concerns, and provide thoughtful feedback. The crew was on the job in just a few days and the work was completed in two. The crew was friendly, kind, CLEAN, and punctual. The quality of the work is exceptional. I would certainly use them again and again.

Review: Kerrigan Paving & Tar & Chip was contracted to Tar & Chip road on January 8th 2013. Job was completed around January 14th 2013. Around middle of May 2013 tar seeped through the gravel and caused damaged to shoes, vehicle floor mats. Mr. Kerrigan's employees have returned twice to fix the problem. On July 19th 2013 the road was done and now we have animals that have tar and stone matted to their bodies.Desired Settlement: road to be fixed properly

Review: On 9/24/2013 Kerrigan Paving tar and chipped my driveway.

There were no snow plows on the driveway this past winder & yet there are bare spots where gravel, or "tar & chip" should be

The drive is, in some areas, 50 percent covered in grass/weeds and in other at least 30% covered; and the definition of the drive is compromised.

I have called 3 times in the last month 7/23;7/28 & 8/5 and left messages ,with office staff, for Mr. Kerrigan to see what we might do to resolve this issue.

I have received no response.Desired Settlement: That the driveway be cleared of weeds, the definition of the driveway be brought back, and that the areas of little or no "chips" be repaired/restored.

Business

Response:

I am not currently working in your area but I will be out next week to look at the driveway and schedule all needed repairs thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

The owner, Mr. Kerrigan, has contacted me & set forth a plan for the next 2-3 months to spray the grass/weeds that have grown thru the tar/chip. When that is completed he will re-access where the tar & chip to see what the next step(s) might be.

Thank you help to this point.

Review: I engaged Kerrigan Paving to repave my driveway in December 2013. A term of the contract was that they would return in the spring of 2014 to seal the asphalt after laying it down in December. Although Kerrigan satisfactorily laid down the asphalt, they failed to return to seal the driveway, I have contacted Kerrigan numerous times over the last 6 months, but they have failed to take action. They have now become unresponsive.Desired Settlement: I want them to come out and seal the driveway before the winter comes.

Review: On September 13, 2013, my neighbors, and I contracted with Kerrigan Paving to seal our driveways including a common drive on our pipe stem. The Kerrigan representative was on site sealing our neighbor's driveway and touted the superior quality of his company's service. I liked the look of the material they were using on my neighbor's driveway. It appeared to be a solvent or petroleum based product that had a nice glossy shine to its appearance. He said they used higher quality materials than the cut-rate companies, that they would repair any cracks, and would edge all the vegetation back to ensure that the edges of the driveway were sealed. He emphasized the importance of the edging. We agreed to do the job for $900. I then had to leave for an appointment. The contract was made out in my neighbor's name and she gave them a check for the full amount and I later gave her a check for my half of the work. When I returned, the driveway had been sprayed, some of the problem areas I had pointed out had some additional work done to them but the vegetation had not been cut back and some of the cracks had not been repaired. I contacted them about the discrepancies and they said they would return a few days later to take care of it. When they arrived, they edged the vegetation but didn't spray the edges until I requested it and they still didn't spray all the edges. I pointed out some of the cracks they had missed and he put another coat of sealant over those areas. The material they used when they returned was obviously different than what they used the first time. It was obviously water based and went on with a flat color and it smelled different. So we now have areas that are different in appearance. I contacted them about that and they insisted it wasn't water based and the color would match in a few days. As of October 27th you can still clearly see the different color and texture.Desired Settlement: Redo the entire job with the originally used materials. At a time when both my neighbor and myself can be present to observe the work.
