The owners fluctuated between non-responsive and when reached, condescending, rude, and accusatory when reached. I felt I was overcharged as well.8/11/14 - Took earrings in for repair. Was quoted $150 to reset earring and fix pits in pearls. Earrings are 2 years old. Didn't feel like I understood the cost, owner pressuring and condescending. I leave them for repair due to my good history with the business, despite my gut feeling.8/19/14 - Leave a message to speak with owner, call never returned.8/26/14 - Call to inquire about status. Male owner yells at me over the phone about how he doesn't know where my earrings are in the process, doesn't appreciate how I'm treating him, and that customers are leaving the store because I've called and I'm wasting his time. When I ask to speak with female owner, it further enrages him. Our call lasted 6 minutes. Later that day, my husband goes into the store to ask to speak to the female owner (instead of the male owner). The male owner, calls the police and tells them my husband is threatening him. No police report filed. I email the female owner, and I'm worried I will not get my property back due to the way the male owner is acting. I receive a timestamp that she has read the email, but she never responds.8/1/14 - I am too scared to call, so my husband calls to check on the status of my earrings. Female owner answers the phone and tells my husband she was planning to call me that day. I never receive a call.8/2/14 - I receive an email from the business, written by the male owner. He tells me not to contact the store and that he will contact me. I never receive a follow-up.8/16/14 - Still with no response from the business on the status of my earrings, I reach out to [redacted] group and a Public Safety officer escorts me to the door of the business, for my own safety. The male owner charges me $160.13 and lectured me during the transaction. I later take my pearl earrings to a different jewelry store, and the employee confirms my suspicions that I was grossly overcharged. He tells me there is not a way to fix the pits in pearls, and that doing so will likely be a temporary solution that can potentially cause more damage. The jewelry store quotes me approximately $35 for the same repair.Desired SettlementWhile I would like a refund, I am not requesting a settlement in this case. Instead, I would like other customers to be aware of my situation, and ideally for the male owner to stop treating his customers so poorly.
