We filed for bankruptsy and we owned a home. We were told we could keep our home, but what we didn't know was that he put his name on our home and to get out of this mess we had to remortgage our home for 6 figures just to get it back and pay him off. So at the end of the day we had to go back into debt to get out of this. Be careful if you own a home, ask lots of questions. Or better yet sell and pay off your debt and move on. This was a total nightmare for us!!

Thank you for the opportunity to respond. Yes, the house equity must be used to pay your creditors. However, there was little or no equity initially but your situation changed when you did not do what was required on time.
Your bankruptcy, which should have been completed in 21 Months ended up taking 9 Years. During this period the house went up in value and by law the creditors are entitled to that equity. If done on time, little equity would have had to be paid. We are happy you are finally discharged.
Further to your other comments, we do agree with you, and advise many people we see who have significant equity in their house, that selling and paying the creditors may be the solution. Also, remortgaging or a proposal would also be a solution. We wish you all the luck in the future.
To be frank, I didn't feel like "just another client in the chaos". I had to pay thousands of dollars in unanticipated medical bills which wreak havoc on my financial situation. I was really embarrassed and depressed to consult a representative for filing bankruptcy. Debt consolidation and bankruptcy were the two options that could help me get back on track. Then I approached Kevin J. Thatcher, who had more than 15 years of experience working in bankruptcy as both a trustee and an employee. Everyone on the staff was really supportive, helpful and non-judgmental which was important to me.
They were kind and caring when I was going through a hard time. They made the proceed easy to understand and everything went exactly as described.
They won't return my calls they won't provide me with a breakdown to buy out my ex husband out of my house he never put a cent into nor paid any taxes anything for and never lived in the house. I want to get this done with and have been trying to get a hold and even drove from penetanguishene to Guelph to pay off the amount in full and was told I have to wait to talk to *** which he never returns my calls no one does in this office they are rude and I feel as though they are stalling purposely to for close on my house and take my money. Something seems really wrong with this company and wanted to inform you in case anything arises I have 4 children and want This nightmare to end and they aren't allowing it very poor business etiquette.
I want to pay amount in full and get this *** company off my house as soon as possible!!
