On or about 9/12/*** *** *** *** brought in a *** *** *** with the complaint of various lights out in the rear and radio not working.They said it had been to another shop and they tried to change the bulbs to repair the problem and it didn't, that is when the radio stopped
working.It was diagnosed using the factory *** SOS Diagnostic tool, that the rear Signal Aquisiton Module (SAM )had failedWe diagnosed that the radio control head was bad at no charge to the customer.We gave *** *** an estimate for the repairs The control modules on this vehicle are coded to the vehicle , they can not be reused and when replaced must be programmed to the vehicle by Vehicle Identification Number (VIN ) and various options.Garden Isle agreed to proceed with the repairs, the part was ordered, the part was installed and programmed and the lights were fixed.The vehicle at that time was road tested and ran goodIt was released on9/15/14.The vehicle didn't come back for a few days at which time they said that it ran poorlySo we started the process of diagnosing the running issue.Attached is a copy of the steps we took to diagnose the driving issueIt was apparent to me that someone had previously been trying to diagnose this vehicle .Wiring had been probed, parts were left hanging, different types of spark plugs installed.As far as his statement that we took the computer off and put it on another vehicle, like stated above it won't workIt is a theft deterant that is built into the system, the computer is assigned to a vehicle, once assigned it can only be used in that vehicle .I still have the print out for the engine codes and live dataI would be happy to explain or provide these if requested
