I was recently contacted by Jag *** about purchasing a carI told him that I had debts that I had to clear up before I could think about buying a car
Some background so you understand my situationIn I had purchased a new carAbout months later I was not able to work and contacted the loanerthey suggested we do a voluntary repossession which we didIt took about 1/years for the doctors to figure out what was wrongDuring this time I had no income as the insurance company wouldn't pay anything and the government wouldn't give me anything without a definite diagnosis.I had nothing left after this and was living in a vanIn January of last year I became eligible for old-age pensionThis increased my income considerablyI got credit cards and loans to rebuild my creditI have been making regular payments and am working at rebuilding my credit
When I was contacted By Jag I immediately informed him that I could not but a car until I had paid off all my debtsHe called me back the next day saying your company did cash back and we might be able to make a dealHe took my information and called me a couple of days later to say we could make a dealI must admit I was surprised by thisWe made an appointment where he picked me up , I test drove a very nice carHe took me upstairs where I met the finance person, I forget her nameShe was ready to send me to get insurance while She got all the papers readyI asked her about the money to pay my debts and she was surprised because she said she didn't know about itI asked Jag about why it was not included and he asked if I meant the loans so he knew about themHe said he forgotWe did not do the deal as without the payments for the other debts gone I could not afford the paymentsIf I had signed those papers without checking I would have been in very bad financial trouble and it would have set me back years in my attempt to reestablish myself
I do not know if Jag was doing this to increase his sales numbers and did not care about the end result or if he was unprofessional and did not do his job properly but to me, both actions are not acceptableHe could have destroyed everything I have been trying to do to recover from a very bad situation

I am a queer, woman of colour. It didn't matter at this Key West used car division, the sale an and manager I dealt with were professional, efficient and knowledgeable. A big difference from my experience of the last two months. I have dealt with large and small dealerships, and private sellers, and generally experienced discrimination and condescension. At Key West, within 3 hours I walked away with a car at great value and a great experience.
